Yes, there is... but it's a bit "complicated".
Most of the data found in DA files is similar both in format and in values while new features must be entered either manually or by loading such a race straight into a **TEMPORARY** editing slot without even starting a new game.
Two hints that might help for this process;
- Pre_view any stock race files by comparing their xml content and take notes about what new or differently configured lines are there. This analysis would certainly provide you with key details over the essential and give you a better idea on the number of edits you should expect later on.
- Verify a brand new custom (again, temporary) made within DA and see if the notes above apply or seem relevant against what was in an earlier DL custom.
Another thread (can't recall exactly which, but search for terms like 'Ships & transfers' in the forums) by someone contains a clear answer by Kryo on the proper method to reset some or any DL fleets (incl. templates & customized ships) to be stock compatible with DA settings. IFIRC, some editing must be done and file copying does the trick. Don't forget the changes in format and in components value(s) between DL&DA are somehow extensive and the calling code-structures were also modified. Which is to say that if follow through Kryo good advice, it should work.
I was also trying to slot back the old DL/Yor fleets awhile ago... but never got to testing the process in more depth - being busy with modding X-Worlds stuff and delaying my own work on custom designs for the X-Com ships too.
Quick search for key items_terms will certainly give you a lot of info.
Good luck! But, don't worry cuz it's relatively easy -- tks to many hints found right here in these forums, specially the Tagged_Posts everywhere and in the Modding section! .
