Beta 3D - No Hype :(

Can anyone comment on Beta 3D? No rush, I'm just curious about my favorite race...the Altarians. I can't wait to see how they've been upgraded.

I am really anxious for the Altarians as well. Getting the Altarians soon would be a nice Christmas present from Stardock. Though not having them thus far has made me play around with some of the other races -which has been quite fun. I really hope the developers keep the Altarians as a research oriented race. I don't think they would change it, but if memory serves me correctly the Iconians used to have a research bonus in the original dreadlords and this was changed in Dark Avatar.

Someone named Vinco said he was getting a download to version .92[b].006...but that it was just a bunch of bug fixes anyway. I've not had any luck getting anything new from SDCentral. Maybe they released .006 to a select group?? Vinco also said he had heard that the Altarian/Thalan patch was pushed back to Jan. 3. Anyone else heard anything?

I just received patch .92[b].006 today as well. There were also very small patches for Dreadlords and Dark Avatar. I went to start a new game and there were no new races. I haven't played with it yet, so I do not know what difference this patch makes. It is probably correct that this is largely a bug fix and maybe something to make all three versions of the game work better. It is very unlikely, but maybe certain people with different system specs need the new patch while others do not. I run windows XP 64 for instance. Just a stab in the dark.

Unfortunatly Beta 3D will not have the Altarians or the Thalans implemented. Much of the team took the week off, so we focused on bug fixes (in DA and TA) and a few needed tweaks (Terror Stars can now be part of a fleet, ect). Cari will be posting the full change log soon.

Anyways, back to Invasions!

so...... when will we get them? Jan 3rd? i have to go back to Uni then    i was hoping to try out the Thalians before i go back and have to stop playing for a term .... can you at least tell us what the Thalians WILL be?

Well, the former unofficial fix for DA is probably official now, Terror Stars can be fleeted... honestly, that's more than enough to keep me busy over the holidays.

Ugh... no fix in the changelog for freighters resetting to home planets on a game load. Oh well, bugs get fixed on their schedule, not mine, and there's other good stuff there.

I agree that it would have been nice to have been notified of a delay earlier so we weren't expecting it. However, I do understand that most of stardock was probrably taking an early holiday break. Thank you for your update, please let us know on further updates thank you.

Not putting them in was our fear at the start of the week (with so many people out of the office), but we really tried to get them in.  Being the most 'different' race of the batch, putting out a half-baked version just to make the beta date just wasn't an option.

From a magnitude perspective, though, Beta 4 is going to be a HUGE step forward, rather than the baby steps we've been taking, which is always fun to experience. I much prefer 'Woah, look at the difference' over 'Uh...what got changed again?'

Altarians fully implemented
Thalans fully Implemented
Trade bug Fixed
Pics for Drath+Korx buildings
New Victory condition fully implemented
New invasion screen fully implemented
No crash on ship details opening pretty revolving picture screen

Hopefully thats what HUGE means... you listening stardock? Just getting rid of the 2 bugs from that list would make me happy though tbh.
