ctd on ship upgrade

i am using beta version 0.91[b].001 (updated this morning). whenever i do CTRL + N and then go to upgrade any ship, the game crashes to the desktop. this is reproducible.

here is my debug, but i can't see anything in there that is abnormal.

Please install 'SmartException' from the free stuff section in Stardock Central. Make sure that SE is running and start your game as normal. If the game crashes it will generate an exception report that can be emailed to gc2bugs@stardock.com.

Include in/attached to the email:
+ A description of what you were doing at the time.
+ How to reproduce the crash (if possible).
+ A zipped save (if applicable).
+ The appropriate debug.err file.

The devs cannot help if you do not provide these details!

yeah, i just started new games as different races, did the CTRL+N, and the only one that took me to the desktop was the terran. but if you don't do a CTRL+N using the terran, it doesn't crash. at least it didn't for me.

it only happens to the starting default terran ships (colony, constructor, space miner). i need to research ion drive for any of my custom ships to start showing up and i haven't made it that far yet due to the crashing.

i plan on deleting some of those anyway, as i have a new colony ship design that i want to use. but whenever i get a nice starting planet (the CTRL+N thing) and try to upgrade any of the default terran ships, it crashes. all other race ships work fine, even after a CTRL+N.
