Some basics we newbies need to learn:
1. Ok, I have got the techs needed to maked uninhabitable planets habitable. So now exactly what do I do? Send a constructor to the planet? Send a colony ship? Is there a ship module for this, to be added on to a space miner or some other kind of ship? Is there a special kind of ship that terraforms uninhabitable planets?
2. I'm puzzled by the "Military" production on my planets. If I adjust the allocation of production heavily to military, then I get more military symbols in the top section of the planet screen. But what does that mean? Have I trained soldiers? Built some kind of artillery units? If I have 12 symbols, what military assets does that represent? Back in Civ4 you built either an archer or a swordsman...in GalCivDA there doesn't seem to be any screens so select the military units, other than ships, that you want to build.
3. As you learn new techs for better weapons and ship defense, you want to add them to your existing ships, right? But the upgrade screens have you upgrading from one kind of ship to another. How do I go about adding new Stinger II's or Impulse Drive to an existing scout?
4. All around the galaxy there are mining bases on asteroids...some are mine, many are owned by the lesser races. Can I take these by force and add them to my resources? Does that automatically mean war? Is it advisable to do it? If so, and assuming I have Planet Invasion or whatever is the necessary tech how do I go about taking a mining base? Send a warship and land it on the mining base square?
5. Same question as 4 above, except as it relates to resources bases.
I'm sorry if I have asked too much, but I suspect there are plenty of other newbs that would be interested in your answers if you can favor us with your time. Thanks very much for your replies.
