He knows that, I think. What I believe he's saying is that in addition to "class," there's a "habitable" heading you can click to, only this one functions contrary to expectation.

What I would expect if I click on unowned and then select habitable is for all the planets I can currently colonize (preferably further sorted by size) to move to the top of the list.

What you get instead, as best I can make out, is a grouping of planets by type -- i.e., first all the unowned radioactive planets, then all the toxic planets, etc. It's not clear to me how they are arranged within the type, it looks entirely random. I think they never got around to fully implementing this selection.

To the OP, what I do is use the class heading and then click through the planets until I find one I can colonize. It's a bit tedious.

You can also just zoom out the main map a lot and learn to read the planet representations. If you have sharp eyes you can find uncolonized planets pretty quickly that way.

The list that comes up on the screen when you press F1 or F2. F1 brings up a ship list, F2 brings up a planet list which you can sort various ways.

Yes, Terenin is correct, I am using the "Habitable" view to (wishfully) sort
the "Unowned" planets by Habitability. In MOO2, you could do a similar query and the planets at the top of the list were the most desireable to colonize, making it MUCH easier to determine where to send that next colonizer.

If you search by class wont all the uninhabitable planets (class 0) be at the bottom.

Ah, that's why the question seemed a little off to me. I didn't know you could search by extreme type in TA. I preordered, but simply don't have the time to beta. By the time I would finish a game, I'd be a version or two behind. OP never actually said this was about TA, so I just assumed it was a wording thing     I'm too used to seeing things like that on the GameFAQs boards.
