Beta 2b -- Yor can't culture flip planets!

The Yor can't culture flip planets at this time, well not easily.

The problem is, the Yor can only get 3 influence modules on their influence starbases. They are "Diplomatic Outpost", "Foreign Relations Center", and "Interstellar Embassy". All together, they provide a measly +22 bonus. When compared to what can be built with all of modules, you get a bonus of +337.

That is over 15 times what the Yor can build!!!

If the Yor had access all 6 modules of the "Diplomatic Outpost" tree (all modules that are either the module itself, or required it to have been built at some point), they could build influence starbases with a bonus of +82. That would put them at just under 1/4 of the power that would be had with all the modules.

Nice, it is pretty similar to the arguement I was going to make based on the "goodlife" from Fred Saberhagen's Berserker stories. (Goodlife being living beings who have joined forces with the Berserker machines that wish to destroy all life in the universe)

Sorry if I beat you too it. I was just trying to come up with a scenario where the Yor would use culture a bit more.

I'm not surprised that you mentioned something like "the goodlife". I did try to mix in virtue ethics to justify organic genocide.

In any case, the stuff you mentioned sounds interesting. Is any of it worth looking up?

I loved the Berserker stories. It's old-school sci-fi, but if you like that you'll enjoy them.

eh i say yor should have a weaker culture but they can still take over worlds its just really hard anyways i would rather die then work for those things wouldnt you?

also i agree though with one idea they should have some sort of counter influence hell make them immune to influence take over all together i mean why would robots join fillthy organics whom theyve hated for AVERY VERY LONG TIME

or just make it incredably hard to win them over like 500% harder then any other culture would work pretty well.

No worries on beating me to it, you covered the idea well.

As for the Berserker series, they are being repackaged into Omnibus editions IIRC, but you should be able to find them in your local used bookstore(s). You can get a list of the novels by googling Berserker and going to the Wikipedia article. But really all you need to do is locate the first novel, Berserker. It's all various short stories of different situations. One of the stories I like tells about a Berserker research planet where human brains and brain tissue are used to help overcome machine thinking limitations. An interesting idea for a unique Yor technology, no?

Very neat idea with the yor... Maybe have some "organic assimilation" technologies that will allow the yor to practice diplomacy though cybernetics
