The Eternal Villainy

This is the home of the Metaverse League Team E: The Eternal Villainy
We have our own private forums over at The Galactic Core WWW Link

History of Team E:

Team E was created after the third round of the Metaverse League to handle its growing popularity and increase in players. After showing interest in captaining his own team, the Commissioner Neilo, sanctioned a new team and made Silverbeacher its first captain.

A mixture of play styles and personalities, the Villainy hopes to dominate the League and prove that they are no upstart.

The original team founded in October of 2007 was

Silverbeacher, Team Captain and Assistant MVL Score Keeper
Neilo, who is also the MVL Commissioner
MottiKhan
Pndrev

In Round 5 we added Iztok Bitenc to the team.

The Eternal Villainy secured its first victory in Round 5 of the MVL.

The current MVL round set up page can be found here: MVL Round 6

A win for the Villainy!!! Way to go team.

We will now go on to conquer the MVL!!!!

yes, my fellow Villainy members....but do not brag or be boastful...no, we will let the others ruminate and scheme and plan their ways into achieving victory next round...and we will take it from them, coming out from the shadows and crushing their dreams of defeating us.
Reply #35 Top
FYI, Team C DID, in fact, beat you, Neilo, Motti and Pndrev. It's Iztok that saved your butt.
Reply #36 Top
No team E won.

So you want to brag about how your 5 members had us beat. Us 4 members. So what. Once the playing field was leveled it was a different story now wasn't it?

And just after running the numbers you are wrong anyway...leaving Iztok out we have these averages,

Eternal Villainy
Score = 10,256
Game speed = 3.5
Submition time = 3

Crusaders
Score = 8805
Game Speed = 2.4
Submition time = 15.4

So thats 2 out of 3 category's that the Villainy beat the crusaders. And one of those victory's would have been good for two bp's. Your victory was worth one.

Both teams have 2 individual BP's for a final tally inc base 8 of,

Villainy = 12
Crusaders = 12

So that is not a win. Even the playing field 5 V 5 and we win. No excuses.

FB, this an unfortunate comment you have made. Being a sore loser is not in the spirit of the league. Did we come into your thread and brag about our win. No.

I understand there may be some immature enthusiasm at work here but this attitude of yours is in poor taste and in no way in the spirit of the league.

I do hope this is the last time we see this kind of behaviour from you, cause to be completely honest, i am not sure how much longer i can bite my tounge and remain civil over such comments.

So FYI, Team E DID in fact, beat you FB. And in your scenario Team C DID NOT, in fact beat us.

:( :( :( :(

Damn you for making me write such a response. My post is no better than yours, i only take comfort in the fact that it was a response and not a taunt or begrudged comment.

Correct.

I don't think FB's intent was all that ill intended. Seems like a rather normal league type taunt. I think you did take it a little harder than intended.

That can be the problem with this evil persona stuff. It's fine until people begin to take things a little too personal.

I think Kryo said it best quite some time ago when he said that some people need to grow a little thicker skin and that other people need to stop poking folks with sharpened sticks. I see evidence of both effects going on here.

It's fine to win but coming in a close 2nd at the last moment is exciting as well. I do think that round 5 was one of the most balanced rounds so far and I see people all over the league improving their game each round. That is the true victory. So if someone wishes to be slightly childish and go Na na na na nah, it's actually more funny than it is insulting.

:LOL:  Can't say there's a lack of entertainment, can we?  ;)

I don't think there's a problem with the evil personas. It's a simple misunderstanding wrought by a text based board. It's all too easy to say or take things the wrong way.

Fact is, that team E is the most awesome, capable and threatening group of gamers that has ever been brought together in the history of mankind.  :HOT:  That being the case, we're bound to draw a little fire from those who secretly wish they were a part of such a glorious team.  ;)

Yes. Text only communication is easy to misunderstand.

Now here is a real *taunt*. :) Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.  :LOL:

funny how that except the time I was short a player, that the team I'm on always wins :LOL: (Crusaders round 3)

Now maybe if y'all would just realize and admit to how amazing of a player I am, you know, single-handedly handing my team its victory just by being there, well, things would go a LOT easier for all.

I certainly overreacted for sure.

I don't think FB's intent was all that ill intended.

But this time after reading the post again with fresh eyes, i still believe that the post was made out of sour grapes and that there was indeed a sense of resentment in the intent.

My reaction may seem out of place based on this one comment but this is not the first such instance of this happening with FB, and that is what i had on my mind when replying. It's not so much the comment, but the person making it. Had this been the first such instance of this behaviour i do think i would have just let it go.

This is true, may FB reply and make himself understood then all will be well.

Like i said the first time it happens, you are dead right, it's funny. But when it keeps happening it can become quite annoying.

As soon as i re-read my reply, i realized that the high road was there for the taking, but such is life.

Let him be sour and resentful then if thats what he needs to do right now. Let it slide off you like water from a duck's back. That doesn't change the fact that Team E did a great job, and won the round. :)

The A team coulda won it had it not been for those pesky kids on team E, and their meddling dog too.  ;p

It is good to see cooler heads lighten up the situation. However ...

I certainly didn't imply that there is no blame on his part. It takes two to tango and even if it is an over-reaction there must be something there to react to. Like I said some folks need to grow a little thicker skin *and* other folks need to realize when it's time to stop poking folks with a sharpened stick.

It's almost always best to let things lie and let cooler heads prevail. None of us are immune from having to let off a little steam now and then. I've been as guilty as anyone else at times but I've taken the advice of the cooler heads and let things settle down. Sometimes you need to let off steam and sometimes it's your turn to be the cooler head. What goes around comes around.

Correct! Sometimes when I've been really annoyed with some post on a forum, if I immediately started relpying, my reply was usually way too harsh. Now I wait for at least a half a day before replying to such a message. Helps me to cool down, exactly define what I find wrong with the message, find proper words to point on his error, and send the other guy go sc..w himself in a civilized manner. ;) My revenge is best served cold. But the neded patience comes only with lots of experience.

Very true Mumble. I am of course more than happy to move on and let the issue rest, as i am sure FB is.

I think we need to keep the spirit of the league in our minds when comments like these come up. Something i tried to do, but ended up failing at. I was too defensive.

Whats said is said, and a lesson learned. Let's move on eh FB?

I too was very guilty of that exact thing Iztok. It did take me some time to work out the best way to reply in those times. I'd like to think i have achieved that patience somewhat, but we all have those days when we fail.

Like i said, i think both FB and myself can learn a lesson here and move on.
