Is there a problem with the number of habitable planets under 1.8?
There are a number of bug reports claiming that new games started under
1.8 had very few habitable planets.
The number of habitable planets was reduced in an effort to reduce the memory usage. We are going to raise it in another update shortly, but not to the previous levels.
Thats becoming ridiculous. What a hell are you guys doing with RAM? Can you maybe explain us how could habitable planets taking that much of it ? I mean for what ? Because from what I've seen in the game, 10kbytes should be more than enough to store data about even most habitable planet.
Take any other 4x game - Imperium Galactica 2 for example. Its planet mechanics is similar - you build staff where you can, many different building, moral, taxes. And whole game requires 64 mb to run. Take SE5 - very deep and complex, may be even too much complex - still requires 128 mb.
So whats the problem with GC2, that you guys have to cut habitable planets because 2GB(!!) per process cup is no longer enough for you ?
