RELEASE: Gauntlet's Minor Race Mod

Hello everyone, I was talking in another thread about minor races, and well now I have released a mod exploring the idea of having more variety in the minors.

This Mod adds a total of 8 new and original minor races that will occur in your games, in addition to this several of the old races were changed in order to eliminate the repetition of the race pics. The demeanors of these races vary, you will find that there are mostly neutral, but there are a couple of more 'good' and 'evil' ones now. You will also notice that the races have more unique special abilities, for example the Pexi have a very good population bonus, while the Bios have an excellent research bonus.

The Zurga Teluka
The Felug
The Bios
The Reptilor
The Pexi

In a week or so I'll probablly have an update adding another 10...

My computer does not recognize this file. How am I supposed to use it? What happened to the 'readme' file? It is not in any known compressed format as far as my computer can tell. It is not a .zip or an .rar or anything.

Hey Gauntlet03,

Just a little bit of feedback. I love the mod, but I have noticed that the ships on minor race that was once the cardinoids still identify as Cardinoid ships when you click the mouse on them. The planets and pictures etc are fine. Just thought you may want to check it out. I've only played one game though so it might have been a once off glitch.

well the carinoids still exist, so why wouldnt there ships still be carinoid? Their picture simply was changed... was this perhaps a different race that had ships labeled as such?

If you downloaded the file and its not a .zip i suggest trying again, as stardock required and accepted a .zip file, it could not Be a .rar or other... so my guess is an incomplete/corrupt download...


Tested the download, worked fine for me, good luck..

Does this mod apply to just DA, or DL also?

it should be used for DA, it would be a matter of careful Copy/pasting from the race config to get it to work for DL

I enjoy adding races to spice up the game but does anyone know how to change the shift+Control+D command to pull from your custom minor races and not a random creation? I would prefer to decide which minor races show up which I can only do now by limiting the raceconfig to 8 minor races. Also is there limit on how many can be spawned I tried it a couple times on large maps and only 3 spawned plus the original 8.

Firstly; No I do not believe I have ever heard or seen a way to spawn the regular minor races.

Secondly, I wish we could set minor race to up to 10 or even 30 lol

Thirdly, I'm happy you downloaded this mod, but that must have been a while back, I Highly suggest you uninstall it and apply Gauntlet's Race Mod 3.0 and then add the 4.0 package.

Hope it helps.

Oh yeah one last thing; since the random race does select from a small sampling of the original race images you could change those images and get different pics at least.

OH, I have installed the package with all updates, I just also used it as template to build more minor races starting with number 2000 so as not to interfere with future updates. Then to get which I wanted I had to build a second raceconfig and copy over just the ones I wanted it to choose from.


Oh yeah one last thing; since the random race does select from a small sampling of the original race images you could change those images and get different pics at least.


Great Idea! Does it only pull from those specific numbers say, 53 to 59? If so Replacing them should at least enhance the gameplay further. Thanks!

the only issue with that, is that updates to the game will inevitably replace said images, so back those up!

I assumed you had the old version because this post is regarding that version lol... not that it matters...

I'd be interested to see what minors you've made... I just started work on version 5; which currently already boosts the 60 or so images to 75, but I'm aiming for 100 Race Images, and increasing the minor count from 35 to 50.

Not to mention more custom races and ships...
