Are you playin' good or evil?

I usually play as a "good" race (mostly customs) try on advanced levels, but it's really hard. The guys who really rock are mainly Dregin and Yor, then come the Arceans and the only good strong ones left are the Altarian, but the foxy Altarian lady (in DA) has a bad temper and it's difficult to get close or even make an alliance... What I want to say is that I think as a good race you have a tougher job and you simply can't keep under control the Dregin and the Yor in the same time. What happens mostly of the time, is that you are fighting and finally conquering the first one but in the meantime the second one got enough powerfull to sweep you off the map

. Ok, I will try to do better or dude I'am getting evil too!

I tend to play Evil 70% of the time, Neutral 20%, Good 5%.

You should try taking math for your remaining 5%.

I play as good, so my armies of "crusaders" can annihilate all those inferior evil races. Or I play as neutral to get the bonuses.

Amen - You who play evil are cowardly wimps. Those of you who stay good are the real warriors.

You have the makings to be a really great "crusader" as geminisama put it, but it may be a lost cause to try to pull you away from your fun of betrayal...oh well.

I'm playing with a "good" alignment for now. I intend to play on all of the alignments before it's all over with though. I've played "neutral" as well. There's no compelling reason in my case to prefer one over the other. I've so far been able to steal or trade for some of the evil and neutral techs anyway.

I've noticed that some people have "chaotic" in their alignment. I haven't seen that in the game so far. Then again, I'm a newbie at all of this. How would I get that going?

There is no doubt Evil has the best bonuses right now. What I would like to see is a system where being evil nets you bonuses early, but being good nets you BETTER bonuses at end game. Perhaps some good-only late game techs that give you the edge when all techs are just about maxed. That will make people like me play good because I like to finish researching the entire tech tree before I go to war.

I kinda like the alignment bonuses the way they are other than the influence/economy bug for evil.

Good gives a little more challenge, but not so much as bumping up the difficulty would. Neutral gives a nice boost to the planets and productivity. I haven't played evil yet, but I'm sure there are some fun aspects of that, too. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

You can research all techs before going to war? The AI seems to like to declare war on me right after the colony rush and before I get any significant tech. That's fun, too though.

Sorry Neutral's the way to go. Personally, I only play neutral.

If you get xeno ethics early (like just after planetary invasion. Before all the other races even have soil enhancement. The construction, research, etc. bonuses you have over the opponents simply by building out your tiles is a game breaker. Well, assuming you don't let yourself fall behind in planetary improvement technology.

Though I would correct the comment about not needing to research those techs anyhow...the androsac is a must have. Though I generally trade for Habitat Imp. rather than research it. Then not only do you get all the extra tiles, but the higher pop limits means cash flows in at an insane rate (I've broken 10k per turn on a huge map..with four other major races still in the game)

Oh my gosh, do people not realize anything? Havin a super-economy gets everyting. I've won a game where I didn't build a ship or improvement or research a single thing!! You can buy everything!! You can basically buy enough people to go to war with someone that they die! It's so easy: rake in the money with a ridiculous economy and buy your way to victory. Kinda like the real world.
