choppy video after playing awhile

Hey guys:

Eversince putting on dark avatar with the latest patch 1.50x - after playing the
game a while the video just gets so choppy I can't continue to play the game.

I am running xp
1 gig memory / ati 9800pro video card with 128mb catalyst set 6.12 only 1 gen back from current. a p4 2.8 cpu.

also with the main map sectors toward the edges even after being explored and even
colonized stay unexplored gray. The map was ok until this last set of changes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many players have reported performance issues in DA. What sort of map are you playing on, what resolution are you using, and have you tried turning down any of the graphic options?

I only started having issues with this patch- never had probs in the beta...

check and see if ctfmon.exe starts running- that seems to be a cause of the problem

I have also reported big framerate drops with DA on my rig. For reference system specs are:
Pentium 4 2.89ghz dual core
1 gig RAM
GeForce 7900 GS PCI EXpress 256mb
Windows XP Media Edition
250 gig hard drive

This mainly happens when many units occupy a small area of the game. Also notice if I zoom in fairly close to the game map the framerate instantly returns to normal. I have tried adjusting various graphical settings including lowering the resolution. These attempts have not been successful in correcting the problem. Also I believe I have enough power to run this game at full settings with no framerate problems.

I run 1680 x 1050 I have a 20" wide screen monitor. Gigantic universe size with
everything in the video set near the highest setting. Will turn in down and get back to you. The original galciv 2 works fine with these settings.

I play at 1680 X 1050 I have a 20" wide screen monitor. running a gigantic universe
with everything set up near the highest level on the video settings. the original
galciv2 works fine with these settings.

My map size is usually a small map and I am running a res of 1280x1024 on a 19 in. ultrasharp flat panel. By the way Arstal, ctfmon.exe was running....I disabled it and it didnt fix squat.

I turned down the video settings from best to high. Turned off a few of the shadings
and was able to play for 40 minutes without a problem. That looks like it may have
solved it for me.

Tried your solution Miltrules, with no success. Still bad framerates with a crowded screen. This was never a problem in Dread Lords. Ran everything at max settings fine. Wondering if support is able to duplicate this issue?

Same problems here... The game plays great for about the first 100 turns then after a save, restart, or continued playing the fram rate drops to nothing. I had the same issue a couple times in DL, but saving the game, or a quick save and restart would fix it.

I just had to format my hard drive so all of my drivers are the best I can download from a week ago.

Running a slightly older system then some:
AMD XP 2400
1GB RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy
Nvidia 6600 GT 128MB video card

I have tried changing the video options but the problem seems to still occur unless I turn everything all the way down or off which defeats a lot of the fun. Any solutions coming soon?

Here is my debug.err file for the game I was playing yesterday. Everything was running great, then I saved and shut down my PC for a couple of hours to take a break. When booted up again and loaded the game is when everything became choppy using the same settings as when I was playing earlier. Seems odd that it was fine while I was playing then went to hell after a reboot. Thoughts???
