How to direct certain type of ships to rally point?

This could be a newbie question.

I have many Defender class ships running around the galaxy and I believe I may have forgotten the location of some of them. I will like to direct all of them to a rally point. I know how to setup the rally point but how can I redirect the ships to it? I try to use the Manager but do not know how.

Unfortunately there is no option to assign rally points by class... about the closest you can get is to assign a rally point to all ships that don't currently have one. That is a good idea though.

in the management tab in the F6 screen, go to the ship rally point tab. select "none" on the left side and whatever rally point you want on the right, then hit the updage button. that's how you would:

assign a rally point to all ships that don't currently have one.

unfortunately, this will move ANY ship w/o a rally point except those in orbit around a planet, include those you have set to guard... and of late, it also includes starbases! so you end up having destination lines for all your starbases on the minimap, which gets confusing.

the other alternative is to use the find button (next to the turn button) until you come upon the ships you're looking for.

Be sure to save the game down before sending everything without a destination to a single location. I tried this a couple of weeks ago and I basically had to reload the game to when I hadn't given the order. If you don't find every star base and remove the auto pilot from them, it seemed to crash the game.

Find button works just fine for this...Although I wish there was a button to say ignore this ship until next turn. I end up going to ships I don't want to move over and over again, because I can't take them out of the loop easily (you can move them back and forth until they are out of movement points).

I agree w/ Kryo--assigning rally points by class would be a great addition to the UI. It would certainly help w/ constructor micromanagement for us larger map folks.

Yes, this is exactly what I mean, micromangement all the different class of ships. If I could do that with rally points, it'll be great. I am glad to hear it is a good idea.
