Ahh.....finally, what my father dreamt of. I made it a reality. Who is gonna complain about a measly star system providing weapons, armor, and starships to those in need, especially to everyone. We started out well enough, contributions mostly from my fathers great fortune. So unfortunate he died....

We have set out exploring the space around us, and much has been found, especially on those asteroids and space junk floating about, ripe with technologies, old weaponry and ships. Very useful. We have also come into contact with some of the other nearby inhabitants of the galaxy, right now they have responded to our existance coolly, better than with hate.

We have three colonies now, wonderful. The homeworld, of course. Altar, my base for research and techonolgies has been bringing in many new gadgets. Altar I, my base of production has been doing well also. Soon it will be my manufacturing capital! At this moment we are attempting to help ourselves, building starbases to boost the economy as well as a few for defense, just in case.

Scouts have reported sightings of a couple more civilizations, the Terran, Korx Dominion, and the Drengin. All have responded to them kindly, though with slight apprehension. Fine with me, they will be warm and friendly soon enough.

Trade is flourishing! I have sent out a multitude of freighters to these civilizations, hoping to boost our economy even more to fuel our ship building enterprise. All has gone well, connections with all those we have agreements with have been welcomed and warm. A few more steps and then everything shall be in place.

You'll want those points you get at the end of a game. A military conquest on a gigantic map at a higher difficulty setting is best for that. There are additional ways to improve your scores, but I'm not really focusing on that myself. I just play my game and the score I get is the score I get. Although, I would like to break 100,000.

Why not ask friendly?

The thing about that is, i'm not into the whole military conquest route. I don't find as much enjoyment in it. Balancing the attitudes and thoughts of my dealings and civilization to me are much more enjoyable. Economics and keeping a healthy flow is fun to me. Watching two civs fighting one another, both using my ships is a riot and fun to watch.

Military conquest cuts your survival chance in half, causing a lot of problems, as well as keeping track of things ands enemies. I'm the quiet shadow that feeds both mouths. I like it that way.

Heh, not all victories have to be the standard. Watching my clients beat the living crap out of one another with my ships and money is fun, because after a while, one has to win and the other surrender.

This allows me the most peace, keeping all friendly with me, they allow me to continue supplying everyone, thus fuel their wanton destruction of their enemy. Soon my clientel will shrink, but then there is me and the other civ, then I make an alliance with them, end of story.

Actually, so long as I provide money, influence, and ships to all the civs I have contact with, they tend to leave me alone. The ones who I have to worry about are the Drengin and Korx. Other than that, it's all peachy.

Provide a few hulking battlecruisers to those who are responding less than warm to you, and they will get friendly real fast. The only thing you really have to worry about is avoiding alliances, as those automatically pull you into wars, and your economy.

I usually have two worlds set for plain trade, starports, factories, and markets while economic starbases are floaring real close. A couple set to military production, a few to research, and a couple to incluence. Then a few mix and matched just in case.

All in all you would need control of perhaps 10 planets with colonies.

One great asset is espionage. Very useful, that and if you buy up all the decomissioned scout ships from all the other civs and upgrade their sensors a little, you have yourself a nice set of eyes in their territory. Just slap on a small weapon just in case, and you have eyes everywhere. This helps with keeping tabs on what ships are going where, and who's producucing what.

It's all about deception, kindness, and information. Give gifts, spread out trade, provide to those in wars, and keep an eye on everyone.

As a provider for all the civs, your military strength should be huge, due to the fact you have a massive amount of ships orbiting your manufacturing planets, waiting to be sold.

Or, alternatively u can blatently ignore the other civs, prepare for war from turn 1 then steamroller any and all opposition. Well laughing at there feeble attempts to strike back at u.

It's also fun when they grovel to u and treat u with the same fear and respect the minors do. Works at any lvl, the only drawback being yr games finish too quickly so u miss lots of random events, U.P. votes, pirate outbreaks etc...

When 1.3 final, finished version comes out, I think I will try a totally pacifist approach with no wars. Now thats going to be really, really hard for me...

I like the military conquest. It seems the most challenging to me. When I started playing GC2 a few months ago, my first three wins were a tech victory, an alliance victory, and an influence victory. I wasn't particularly excited about those win types. Since then, I've unchecked all the victory methods in the game setup and haven't changed it. The game gives me a win only for military conquest.
