Can't make alliances...

I wanted to make an alliance with the altarians in order to slow down a little the excited dregin neighbours, 2 against them is better. I had to exchange techs with altarians to be sure they own alliances tech, but even then I simply couldn't make this alliance, as if they would never had this tech. It happened to me before with another race.    I don’t know, has the relations to be warm or close before being able to ally? or it is a bug.. had someone else experienced this before?

you need to have good relations i think its when it says "close"

actualy you just have to be "friendly" and only you need to own the alliances tech

If you want to keep that race as an ally, don't brake the alliance (well, duh!)
What I mean is that if you break the alliance, that race will never ally with you again.
However, that happened to me a couple versions ago. It is possible that someone changed it in one of the more recent versions.

that's right, i try not breaking it, but how to deal with the situation when your ambassador kills by mistake lord Vega and then go in war? as happened last time   . I think if you let time pass and do trade with them and give some little fancy gifts, then possibly you can remake the alliance in v 1.2, i don't know, it could be interesting to retry. For further versions it would be interesting to have more dimplomacy and spy skills, i think it will be the case in Dark Avatar...

i break alliances relatively often. once, altarians took a planet that i REALLY wanted, so I broke my alliance, took it, gave them some tech, and remade the alliance. It does, however, lower your popularity, AI's dont like backstabbers

Assasinations? Apparently they're affected by espionage and diplomacy levels. Max espionage and assasinations don't happen. Max diplomacy, and you don't make any highly offensive faux pas'.

It used to be close, it's been lowered to friendly, and to be honest they haven't said why. It's far to easy to ally now.

if thats the case they should definately change it back to close, cus friendly is too easy to reach (i didn tknow you could ally on friendly now hehe) but yes friendly is way too easy to achieve and should not be able to ally with somebody ya only friendly with, nobody allies with anybody unless there is strong bonds and relations, alot more than "friendly" lol well not country wise anyway, so galaxy wise should be even more special
