Do you People know that espionage actually demoralize your enemy? :))))

Yes that's right, the pdf manual tells you that espionage
actually demoralize your enemies, this gives you more chance
to crush their economy especially if they are under your empire
or starbase influence. or rather steal the their planets more easily.   

Demoralizing your enemy is a good thing you know ? it lowers their population and while you steal their populations, plus they have a risk of loosing their planets quickly.    Demoralize lowers enemy Overall Approval rating

but when I espionage them, I notice that their approval rating goes down, or is it my influence power is strong? I wonder if we could clarify this with one of the developers here.

MitchiSan, the manual says a lot of things that are different from the final game. It has been specifically noted that the Destabilisation feature was removed. I would guess that it was due to there being no counter-espionage function. From everything I have seen in the game, Espionage simply gives you information. It has no other function. If you watch their approval ratings, they change over time due to population growth and, presumably, tax changes ... just as your own race's rating does. Espionage can show you the changes, but it cannot produce them.

The AI will micromanage it's tax rates and spending, changing it a lot. It's more likely that's what you seen.

It is highly unlikely your spying is demoralizing the enemy, lets review some facts.

1.This was cut from the final game

2.How would spying they dont know about affect them?

3.Do you really think evn if they did know about the spying that theyd let citziens know?

4.This is the same as 2, if your spyings are so secret, how would they be demoralized by it?

Explanation: You are most likely seeing the increasition of tax rates due to the AI needing money for militia or other purposes, you may also be seeing your influence working its charms on the people.

Evalution:A human mistake was made that anyone could sucumb to, it wasn't your fualt just a slight misconseption on your part.

Destabilisation, was in the same page of the gui as espionage. (at least in GC1) Thats probably why it was refered to in the same context.

Erm, no. The idea is, or would be, that agents on the enemy planets would be stirring up toruble. It's not because the race is being spied on, it's because agents are actively causing unrest.

damn, why didnt i notice this. i often stopped doing espionage as soon as i had it on advanced... this is gonna turn my Order of Dratha into one hell of a powerhouse. god, cultural conquest can be so rewarding

Dark, I hope you're joking, since the OP is wrong. Destabilisation lowered morale, and it got cut. Espionage DOES NOT AFFECT MORALE.

Greetings all. I would like to introduce myself by saying that there is a huge upside to espionage. When your level gets high enough, you will every so often steal reserch from major races you are spying on.
Every game I have played, (all 15 ) I have put 3-6 bc into espionage per major race, and every game have managed to steal secrets from at leat 1 other race. (I up the bc once my economy gets up and running)
The game I'm plaing now the Earthlings just handed over some crazy high mass driver rail gun (Nano ripper) Dam 8 size 9 that made me the badest mofo on my huge map.

BTW, thanks all, without this forum I never would have been able to play the game.
"Hey stardock, yeah you! How is it that you can create one of the finest turn based games around, but cant figure out how to tell people how to play???
You guys rock, but next time put someone on your payroll who can write down how the thing works.
