AI in battle of the gods.

Should be a simple one- in battle of the gods games (where all techs are researched at the start) the AI still builds research buildings and tech capitals etc. Presumably they are also diverting part of their tax income to research too. They continue to value trade goods that boost research too, and mine research resources.

Even wierder- remember the issue with tech trading in normal games, where all the AI end up using the same weapon type? They do that in battle of the gods too, despite having all 3 to choose from.

Any chance of sorting this?

Are you playing a high enough difficulty that the AI will switch up weapons when they get pasted by your early game weapon choices?

I think so. I'm on painful I think, which is IIRC the final difficulty level before the AI starts cheating. Nonetheless, they all pick mass drivers (they do in 90% of my games) so I pick missiles. One of them has recently started using point defense on his ships though, which has to be a reaction to me. Strange thing is, he's my ally....I suspect something.

NB- If I am wrong, and he's not planning an attack which I have deviously predicted, I will be disappointed.

Yeah, they use mass drivers in all my games too, only sometimes there're one or two that build missiles. I think they used to build the three kinds before I installed any patch. I play with tech trading off, so that can not be the cause. I hope this get fixed in 1.2, it gets too repetitive. i've got to a point where I don't even check their ships, I just research armour without checking what they're building.
