Persuading surrender

How do i become the one that they surrender to?

Ok i assume this has something to do with Influence ,But it seems that the AI is somehow making an offer to a oponent to surrender to them because i often get the message " Our worlds are in ruins ,The Terran Alliance(insert any civ here) has made the best offer and all our worlds belong to them now " What exactly do I need to accomplish to be the one that opponents surrender to regularly. Also I cannot seem to find a way to set Destabilization i only see a slider bar for espionage, or does that bar apply to both espionage and destabilization.

That's baloney regarding the "best offer".

Things like ethical allignment, military strength and diplomatic ability are supposed to have something to do with it but you can't prove it by me, I have not had a surrender since the early betas. I can be leading in all categories and the surrenders still go elsewhere. I can only believe it is purely random since I have heard of other human players getting a surrender occasionally.

I recieve a surrender from The Korx , when I keep on rejecting his peace treaty offer, until
He has one planet left, when I'm about to wipe him out.

He humiliate me twice.
so it's pay back time that I finally learn how to play this game

If you research the Good Ethical Alignment, you will be able to build a Galactic Wonder (Hall of Empathy) that increases the chance other civilizations will surrender to you by 50%.

Try to achieve Team status with all of the races you are allied to - it helps a lot.

From my experience, it may be random, but it appeared that if the losing group had an ally, it would be more likely to go to them, whereas there's little choice if the race doesn't have an ally--they must give up their forces to their would-be conqueror.

That's what the Drath get for constantly fighting my buddies the Dark Yor, though...

I believe it's for the most part random. I recall once, I was allied to the Altarians while playing as the humans. The Altarians were at war with someone, so I joined in, too. The Altarians were weak, so they eventually crumbled. Guess who they surrendered to. If you guessed me because I was their ally and I attempted to save them from a war (almost did, too) you are wrong. They surrendered to the Drengin. Why?!??!

By the way, it wasn't the Drengin we were at war with.

I have never had an ally surrender to me.
On the other hand I have had people clean across the map, who I generate a close relationship with, surrender to me when my allies are tearing them apart.

I've had an ally surrender to me while (both) being at war with a third party. Reading the posts above it seems as though it was a stroke of luck.

What I've noticed is that it's mostly alignment and diplomatic relations.
The Ai prefers to surrender to a Good or nuetral player, and one it has good (al least "friendly") diplomtic relations with.

If you blitzkrieg a weak AI who already like you (and you're good) you'll probably end with them surrendering to you. Otherwise, I think more complicated factors come in.
