it's a billion people eat one megaton like cebuguy said, which means that 1 citizen eats 1 Kilo of food a week. they actually are very light grazers.

Yeah, I stopped looking at the manual because they have changed and updated so much since then, I'm not even sure if the installation steps are the same. Not that I'd ever read those... which is probably why I don't know if they still work.

Anyway, funny topic, I never thought to actually calculate it out myself, but that's what the community is for.
I guess they eat very compact, highly nutritious meals in 2225, or maybe it is just a kilo of pills they pop.

Remember citizens in GalCIv2 are the economic taxpayers, not the underground economy, or dependent children or infirmed, retired etc

THey are only the ones paying taxes, thats why they can grow so much in a year (said the robot)

I also think it's quite implausable that I could build and design a transport to carry 3-5 billion people easily and leave it out in space for months or perhaps even years in peace time, I just figure they are in some sort of stasis or something. Mainly because I shudder to think of all the... organic waste being spewed from the ship regularly if they were up and about. They probably wouldn't be very happy to be drafted and stuck on a transport in any state just because I wanted a troop reserve and the planet they were from had reached tax payer capacity... but hey, I provide them with virtual reality centers, ultra spices, harmony crystals, etc, etc. Basically they must be so doped up that they couldn't care less about what I do to them. Besides, they know I'm going to rule the galaxy one way or another so they might as well be on the winning side rather than defect and get gunned down when I come to conquer their planet.

Of course you can do that just because this is a game. You can do whatever you want even restart or delete it. But hey, if you have actually a horde of fellows, I think you perhaps meet a bit trouble to do that. It's really hard to call up everyone to obey an order. Unless you are commanding a group of aliens that follow you without a doubt, I don't think it is a easy task to go just like in a game. Well, humanity, profit, betrayal, dignity... these are far too complex to represent in a game.

Naaah, If I have the extreme logistical magnificence to be able to put 5 ships in a fleet, I can definately shuffle 5 billion people on and off several planets in a single week as long as I have hyperdive engines. Give them what, maybe 30 minutes to get over to the single spaceport on the planet, load them all and get them to store their luggage (guns) in the overhead compartments and get settled in another 10-12 mins and be on my way within an hour. Sorry, no time to say goodbye to your work, friends, family, or even your pet torian.

No, it's a total misunderstanding because transport modules are filled in groups of one thousand (1,000). The default transports hold up to 500,000 people, which is only half a million--not terribly many people when the intention is to control an entire planet, actually.
