Has anyone noticed any changes in the general makeup of galaxies post 1.11?
I ask because since updating to 1.11, I've noticed some differences in how galaxies tend to be generated now as opposed to what I had become accustomed to seeing in 1.1.
Before the update to 1.11, I generally played huge galaxies and left the planet and star settings at the defaults. Typically, I would see a pretty decent amount of variation in how my galaxies were generated (civ starting location, planet quality, etc). However, after the update to 1.11, the general quantity and quality of habitable planets present in my galaxies seems to be down. The majority of galaxies I'm seeing are now populated with PQ6 to 9 habitable planets that are few and far in between. Also, there seems to be far more star systems devoid of any habitable planets at all at the default settings. This is even when I set habitable planets to common. In fact, since I started to see this new pattern, I've begun testing generating new galaxies and have tried many different combinations of habitable planets, planet number, and star number. Still, I’m seeing the vast majority of my galaxies generated with low quality planets. The greatest exception to this was one particular galaxy I started with that generated at least a dozen habitable planets (mostly PQ9 and up) within very close proximity to my home world. These included one star system with a PQ26 and another star system right next to it with a PQ26, 19, and 11! I had never seen a galaxy quite like this before. I believe I had habitable planets set to common for that particular scenario.
Additionally, the game seems to be doing a much poorer job of generating galaxies with evenly distributed civs and planets. I’m seeing many more scenarios where all the Civs are crammed very close together on the map and leaving huge (as much as 50%) sections of the galaxy completely devoid of any planets at all. Furthermore, roughly 1 out of every 4 games I start, my homeworld is crammed all the way in a corner.
Lastly, bonus tiles on planets are appearing far less frequently.
This may all be an isolated trend that I’ve hit on in my game, but it does seem to be a bit of a stark contrast to what I had been seeing prior to 1.11. I didn’t see any reference to anything that would affect how galaxies are randomly generated in the release notes of the 1.11 patch, so I can’t say for certain that there was anything altered (perhaps a developer can chime in on that?).
Anyway, I’m just curious to see if anyone else may have observed anything similar after updating to 1.11.
Cheers!
