It is my first game playing beta2 and I am experiencing some of the enhancements done to the AI attacking starbases.
First, it really attacks them. Have seen that happen rarely before. So that is a plus.
Here comes the big minus.
I have build an influence starbase near the Korx homeworld an a military one rigth beside, neatly covering two of my planets and their homeworld. I started to fortify the bases when the Korx started war. Now they are throwing ship upon ship at the bases.
Now that is where it starts to get weird (or even unfair). Sometimes the Korx ship will battle against my fleets, sometimes against the base. That wears down my bases.
Why have I placed ships there to fend of the attacks?? My influence base was down to four HP while my fleet was almost intact. Luckily that was the point when I was strong enough to do preemptive strikes.
That does not make sense! I have placed the ships there for defense. If you have no way of knowing who the attackers will hit the only defense you can raise is upgrading the starbase itself. So the decision is constructor or fighter...
Two solutions:
- being able to stack ships with a base will assign the base a "defense squad". Thus you can raise an effective defense
-being able to choose what target to attack in a stack myself. If I am able to attck a base before the ships myself it will even things out.
HJas anybody seen the same??
