Advanced Buildings - time to build

Okay, I am running into a little problem here in a game. To the point that I really don't even care about some of these planets now. I am really late in a game. I had a huge map with all races. It is down to about 4 of us now. Well, here is the problem. Occasionally I will be outnumbered in an invasion, so I will use Tidal something(can't remember the exact name) and that of course destroys a lot of the buildings. Well, If I try to build anything on the planet back up, then it will take like 500 weeks! I try to start out with an advanced Factory, in hopes that that will help speed up the build of the rest of the planet.

Any advice on building from scratch late in a game? Is it possible to build the basic manufacturing plants first? Any ideas are appreciated.

It will take a long time to build all the advanced structures, even if you have an efficient build order. They are just very expensive.

Don't expect to ever get a lot from acquisitions where you've wiped out all the infrastructure.

I think updating buildings is just a bad idea for all theses games. Updating defense systems, shipyards and other thing as that, maybe, but *factories*... It's just SO wrong.
I think it's better to add new hammers multiplier structures, as the capital thing.

If you don't use the metaverse, simply mod the structures to reflect the value that they produce. So if your initial factory with 8 production cost 50, then make the industrial sector with 22 production cost 138 (137.5), instead of the 800 or so that it was in 1.0x. Do this for all of the buildings, and problem solved. You should be able to buy one or two of them, and then the rest should be much faster as well. Conversely, you could just copy the initial factory into a new building, and call it "starter factory"and build those first, then use them to upgrade the other buildings.

I just buy the first factory. Late in the game your cashflow should support that.

HOWEVER... I usualy dont have to do that, because I use traditional invasion every time, win or lose.

I would rather send a second or even a 3rd transport, then remove the buildings I want removed, like those silly orbital / planetary defense buildings, or maybe the 17 embassies....

Occasionaly I still have to purchase a factory, but it is well worth the expense.

Same here. Except I use Information warfare whenever the gain is 1000 legions or more. Tends to help alittle.

Hi!
I use traditional invasion every time, win or lose

You should try MiniSoldiers. They cost some money, but the amount of damage they do is negligible. In all my invasions (should be over 100 now) I remember losing only two-three buildings.

I've been using Mini soldiers normally, but I figured I'd try tidal once or twice. Also, I have another planet that I got from a vote that was new. So, it had nothing on it at all.

You can easily use Mass Drivers or Tidal or Core Detination to soften up the planets if you make sure to NOT send in fleets of transports with 2,3 4 or more thousand soldiers.


The game has a nice 'cheese' factor built into the invasions such that as long as you don't conquer the planet with the troops none of the bad things happen (loss of PQ or destruction of buildings) that are listed.


What I do is make mini-transports with only 500K troops. I send those in an use the Core detination/Tidal/Mass drivers and weaken the planet till it's down to only a billion or so pop. Then 1 last 'normal' invasion of 1000 troops takes it and no damage to the planet or infrastructure.

Mini soldiers all the way. Tidal Devastation is terrible. Why would I want the infrastructure wiped? quicker to upgrade stuff.

Yeah I'm going to have to say if your going to be doing lots of invasions get the Mini-soldiers, only thing I ever use unless I plan on giving away the planet.

Mass Drivers to soften up a five thousand troop invasion!

Who needs planets anyway?

Back on subject, buying industrial sectors is terribly expensive... particularly considering that my economy tends to suck.

I normally just invade with minisoldiers when things are still meaningful...

However, if I'm mopping up a civ and I don't need the planets to get rid of my other enemies I'll just use Tidal Devastation and wipe out the planet. Then I don't need to keep anything there but some population... and the bonus is that I'm not spending much on the planet income, so I'm making money from taxes. Plus, since the planet is trashed I really don't have to worry about losing it due to its low quality...

Agreed mini soldiers rule. However I have to agree with the OP, having to build industrial sectors on a new planet (whether its been colonized or wiped by tidal) sucks big time. They should lower the cost of the advanced factories by a lot. Trying to get a new colony going once you get the industrial sectors is just nuts. I play with lots of habitable planets, so sometimes I'm still colonizing after I get industrial sectors (I go for industrial techs asap for the starbase bonuses).
