In the United Planets meeting I voted for there to be an 8bc/week tax on starbases not in the owner's sector, and the measure passed. I was playing a gigantic map and I had around 20 starbases, none of which were in my apponents zones of influence, so I figure what the heck. But then I look on the expense report, and it says United Planets Starbase Tax is costing me 80bc/week. I figure that is strange, because as I said I didn't have any starbases in enemy sectors. But I keep playing, and about 3 turns later I check back on the expense report, and now it says I am paying 1848bc/week for the United Planets Starbase Tax! Which is about 1/4 of my entire income (which as about 7000/week - remember I am playing a gigantic map) Either I am not understanding what the United Planets Starbase Tax is, or this is a bug.
