And what retailer accepts opened software? If you look on the back of your BestBuy receipt, for example, there is a specific passage devoted to opened software. If it's accepted in return at all, then it's usually only to exchange for the exact same piece of software! The end user is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Well who's job it would be to refund your money I guess would depend on the contract between the two. But to be vaild there has to be some way for you to get your money back.

First of all, StarForce doesn't have it's own EULA. Second of all, all the software that it protects makes no mention of it's protection in the EULA, the box, or manual. Even the slip of paper that includes the StarForce serial number doesn't say anything on it about protection, or even the StarForce name. It just says it's a serial for the cd installation.
