Crash during play :(

Hello,
I've developed a very nice empire with terran alliance in a gigantic galaxy; I played on it for various days. Lately it keeps crashing and I cannot go on with the game. When it crashes it goes back to Windows and an alert appears saying: "Error at 0x100051f8 with a memory reference at 0x00000000. The memory couldn't be "read".
The game is updated and original of course. How can I solve this problem?

Not really sure, have you tried emailing your debug.err and savegame file to Stardock support?

It sounds like a null pointer so the devs would be the best bet to solve it!

Hey,
I've got the same situation but I get no error message. Extremely frustrating (I stopped playing recently).
I take it that this isn't a common problem?
I'm going to try uninstalling-reinstalling tonight.
Any suggestions would be great!

I've also had this problem but only on a gigantic universe setting and only towards the beginning of the game. My problem usuallly occurred as I was trying to save.

I have had a few crashes to desktop.

Updated to latest ATI drivers (x850xt)
Aug 2 card-latest drivers
Pent 3.2 EE processor
1 gig 3200 memory
Dell xps system (gen 2)
it does seem to happen near the end of a game when there is a ton going on. Memory leak? It is after hours of playing...

My problem is always as I'm trying to load a saved game.
I'll look for my debug.err and send it.

I hate to break it to you but your drivers are ancient. First thing should be to update them. Also, if you have an existing game and then install a new patch, sometimes your savegame files get screwed up with the version change.

Allright, thanks for the info, didn't realize I was that far behind with the drivers.
As far as the patch though this save game was done after the patch was installed.

Ok, check this out.
I was crashing everytime I tried to reload a savegame.
I updated my drivers - no help there.
I started screwing with the video settings and dropped my ANTI-ALIASING from x4 to x1.
I haven't had a problem since I did that!!!

Tappo, you need the latest drivers for your audio, as well as the new patch (not beta). Make sure you keep the framerate throttling turned on in the options. Card overheating and old audio drivers have both been reported to cause 'random' CTDs.
