My idea is as follows...
Using cheat mode in the game you can change the allegiance of a ship so that it is under your control and you can add a battleship. However, I want a bit more flexability with the "add a ship" cheat... Here is what I propose...
You hit the cheat key and a window appears allowing you to choose a race. In other words, you are choosing who will recieve this ship and this selection is vital for the next window that appears. After selection, you are brought to the ship design window. You can now choose ANY core ship or designed ship that you made for this paticular race. After you are done here, you can select a ship (this will take a bit of doing, as in adding a select ship button) and this ship will be placed on the map.
The idea? Well, you go through and add ships to the map in one square for your opponent and another square for yourself. Tell your ships to engage the enemy ships and enjoy the light show. Well, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a cheat that would delete ships afterwards, unless you want warships running around the universe, but this can be achieved by taking control of enemy ships and demolishing them afterwards.
So, now you can design ships that look like anything... from the Enterprise to a Star Destroyer, and literally see them battle it out. In addition, you can also test ship designs against each other and watch the battle. In general though, any implementation of this idea (via cheat code, via some structured menu, alike) would be appreciated.
I do have the right forum for this suggestion, right?
