Here you see Battle Fleet Alpha, one of 3 main Imperial battle fleets achieving space superiority in high orbit over the hostile Terran planet Devoa III. This fleet is comprised of 2 Colossus MK2-class dreadnoughts: Colossus (the first ship to be created of this model and flagship of Battle Fleet Alpha) and Juggernaught. Colossus and Juggernaught were the only two Colossus MK1 class dreadnoughts ever to be produced. Due to their flawless record of service, they were both were recently overhauled and upgraded to new MK2 specifications. These two massive ships are supported by 4 Fallen Angel MK3-class Battleships: Bellicose, Saracen, Damacles, and Dynasty. Like all main battle fleets, this one is susceptible to enemy fighter attacks and is frequently supported by screens of picket ships and fighters. The dreadnoughts are pictured far left and far right, and the two smaller ships in the middle are the battleships.
The Colossus MK2 is the second revision of the Imperials' main strike cruiser and features 6 Psionic Disruptors, 3 Warp V engines, and 2 Advanced Force Fields. This gives a fleet of Colossus-class ships unmatched striking power; often able to destroy an entire enemy fleet without sustaining any damage. Unlike most ships of its size, the Colossus was build with speed as a priority. Its unmatched speed allows it to strike several enemy installments in quick succession and escape before reinforcements can be effectively rallied. While fast, the Colossus' series carries no extended life support systems or sensors, so it must often be supported by supply stations. To date, only 5 Colossus MK2's are in service due to their high cost of production and maintenance. None have ever been lost in combat. The 6 main guns on the Colossus are organized into two clusters of 3 guns each, housed in thick armor and cooling sleeves.
The Fallen Angel MK3 class ship was designed to support the Colossus-class main battle cruiser. The most notable difference from the Fallen Angel MK2 is the improved engine cluster to match the incredible speed of the Colossus. In standard main battle fleet formations, Fallen Angels act as frontline ships while the Colossus cruisers support from further behind. While designed as support craft in main battle fleets, Fallen Angels are perfectly viable as main battle craft themselves. Like all capital ships, they are vulnerable to being overwhelmed by enemy fighters and frigates.
The Fallen Angel MK3 uses the same basic hull layout as the venerable Angel dating back to the first wars between the Altarians and the Imperials. The angel series were so named because they were the first ships that were able to achieve fleet superiority over the Altarians and rid Imperial space of the enemy. Modern angels sport anwhere from 2 to 4 Psionic Disruptors and up to 3 Warp V engines. Typically configurations include heavy shields, making the Fallen Angel able to withstand concentrated beam fire. This is why they are often combined with Colossus-class Dreadnoughts, which feature far less protection of their own.
