Starship defense bonuses not working?

I've noticed that if I give my military starbases the startship defense modules, it doesn't seem to help them in combat. Whether I look at them on the map, during battle, or in the afterbattle report under the starbase defense bonus category, no matter what it doesnt list anything. The attack bonuses seem to work fine.

Ships need to have at least 1 defense (in any category) in order to benefit from nearby starbase defense assist modules.

There has been some confusion as of late about what exactly the defense assist does. I know you need at least one defense on the ship to get any bonus. However what I'm hazy on is do you really get the bonus in the other two or only for the one you put on. So let's say I've got a ship that has 1 armor point on it and it's within the zone of a star base with the assist. Does it magically get 3 shield, 3 point, and 4 armor in battle or is it just the assist applied to the 1 armor for a total of 4?

Ships that have one point in any single defense category automatically get the benefits of the starbase defense assist in ALL defense categories, even those with zero points in them.

Thank you! I keep seeing these things that I think are bugs, then I find out are features. Like my super battleship having one hp, then finding out that health is based on hull type

Can some one make a sticky faq for game play questions? This has to be like the Hundredth post on this subject.

Well, really this is something that should be more clearly spelled out in game, because it is not intiutive.
