how to built good ships with humans? ) for destroying planets)

i am new to this game.. litlle help please

hi all. well. i won in my begginer campain. it wasnt so hard, of course. but i had great luck that on EARTH i found PRECURSOR RANGER. great ship. then i bought heavy fighters from other countries, because i didnt had option to built myself.
i really dont know how i would win if i didnt found that ship.
how to built good ships, and destroy other planets? what i need to research?

Use the shipyard, design your own dang ships. It's the rightmost big icon on the bottom, the one that looks like a ship with a circle around it.

Research up a path of weapons (I don't like Mass Drivesr because the AI seems to like Armor). The higher you go, the better the damage gets and the size gets smaller.

Do the same with a defense, but pick one that counters enemy weapons well. Shields counter Beams, Chaff/ECM/Point Defense counters Missiles, Armor counters Mass Drivers. Say if you plan to invade the Drengin Empire, and they have Mass Driver armed ships, you'd want to research Armor so you can fight them better.

You also need Sensors (to see, if you don't have dedicated Sensor Ships like I use), Life Support (unless the map is small or the enemy is really close), and Engines (so you can move around). Researching each of those makes them smaller and better.

Combine onto the hull you want, group the ships into fleets whenever possible. Stir lightly in the blood of your enemies.

Voila. You now have a Space Navy.
