After checking out the score breakdown, it looks like I'm playing at the lowest difficulty of everyone in the MVL. It looks like I'll have to step it up another notch [e digicons][/e] Anyway, I don't know if this is the proper place to mention this, but I was wanting to suggest that the MVL take a "Christmas Break". It seems that there are going to be a lot of people that won't be able to participate next month. Just a thought [e digicons];P[/

Here is my submission for Team E Almost double the score of my last Ascension submission. Maybe this means I'm improving ;)

Here is my submission for Team E ( Eternal Villainy ). I was hoping to have the chance to replay it for a better score, but my work schedule didn't allow me too.
This was the first time I've had the opportunity to attack someone before the UP makes the law that forces all hostile ships out of the area of influence on the declaration of war. What's funny is that I didn't "build up" anything, my ships were just on their way in and had only been in Torian space for 1 turn. The only way that I have seen the AI react to a military build-up is by giving me money. I have several declare war on me if I'm evil and attacking someone else, but since I te
I was working on my Round 10 submission for the MVL, and I had this screen to pop up when I was about to invade the Torians. This may be old news to some, but this is the first time I've seen something like this. Just thought I'd share and see if anyone else has seen any comical messages in-game :)
My understanding is that in order to win an Ascension Victory you have to "mine" 1000 Ascension points. Each turn that you have a starbase on a crystal you get 1 point. On medium maps there are 6 ascension crystals (don't know if this increases on larger maps or not), so having more starbases means collecting more points. 1000 turns if you only have 1 crystal, 500 if you have two, 333 for three, and so on.
Well, it looks like someone is already looking into this, but here are my findings. First off, I am playing version 1.96. I was missing an upgrade to DA, but went ahead and installed it just to be on the safe side. I started off with a small map, just to see if things were still working. I played as the Torians, and selected the Korx, Korath, and Drengin as opponents. Difficulty was challenging, and everything was abundant. [img]http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m465/Bullf
Sweet! I have a team now! And my team leader is the man with the big black hat (or is that an afro?) I guess now is the time to start working on my first diplomatic victory >_>
I've spent some time trying to duplicate this, but I've not been successful (even using crtl-N, which apparently doesn't matter) In my current game, the Yor have out-colonized me (and I'm playing Torian) and have a better economy and industrial capacity (which probably says something about my playing ability), but evil is doing well. I've only played on Medium and smaller maps, with everything abundant except for number of planets, which is set to common. Minor Races are set t
I haven't given thought to a second character yet, but IronicMoon is now on the top of my list for names ;)
I'm glad I can play a part :) This seems to be a lot like the GOTM for Civilization, and seems to be a fun way to get pushed out of my comfort zone. I looked at the settings for Round 10, and I have to say that I had quite a shock. I have never had a diplomatic victory before (I usually do conquest, or if I get lazy, influence), and have never played on a map set up quite this way. I usually go for abundant on everything :) As for the nickname, I can't claim full originality
I'm interested in joining the MVL. I have been playing GalCivII since it's release, but have just recently started browsing the forums. Until just a few weeks ago, I thought the Metaverse was for multiplayer ;) The character that I'd like to use is RhetoricalSun.
I didn't know that you could hit crtl-N to regenerate a map, but now I'm afraid to try it T_T I usually play on medium maps, challenging difficulty, and the Korath Clan expands like crazy, goes to war early, and generally kicks butt. The only other evil race I've played against in ToA was the Yor, and they expanded well, but I took them out early. They had 8-10 planets at the time. I'll try crtl-N on my next game and see what difference there is.
This is the number one reason why I play with "Mega Events" off. If they weren't so game crippling I'd give them a shot. As for your question of whether or not to build alternatively armed ships, that's really up to you. Personally, I'd keep on playing just to see if I could beat them. If you have the time and desire to do so, go for it. If you'd have more fun restarting, then do that instead.
I agree, it does get tiring starting the conversation all the time. The AI takes the time to taunt you when they are researching advanced technologies, so why not in the middle of a war? I hate to use SoaSE as an example, but I wouldn't mind something similar to the way the AI taunts you before an attack. I think it would give the game a little more immersion.
Ah, that's good to know. I couldn't figure out why on my last game my income kept jumping around from +500 to -200 every other turn. It was really strange to be in the yellow, rush buy a building, and see yourself green again. Until now, I assumed it was the taxes being lost from filling transports ^_^
