Pre-ordered today. That should get me into the beta when it starts. ;) edit : Even the consumer report coupon was working... sweet.
Cool. Can't wait til November when the new fantasy strategy game is (hopefully) announced!
I'll second that. Demigod looks nice too, by the way.
For those who want to watch it live with low-bandwidth: http://www.ascii-wm.net/ Of course this does not beat watching a match live in a stadium or having a notebook and a large TV to watch and play at the same time. But it will do nicely when at work.
Being able to download the hole game saved the last weekend for me when the power supply of my desktop died. As luck would have it I'd bought a notebook just the day before. The whole download from Stardock was much faster than me going through the chaos that occupies the room where I know my GalCiv2 CD was (I eventually fount it under some rather large stacks of paper on my desk yesterday). So a big thumbs-up to Stardock. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border
I will not apologize for my comments which were accurate, insiteful, and wryly humorous. I am not in the habit of kissing butt to have my views respected. They stand on their own merit. I don't agree to your first but on the other statements. Ah, the irony.
One comment to the social production problem: Right now you have the ability to emphasize one type of production / research. So why not let us deemphasize one type and make this a default for planets with no social project. That way some spending is still going on there (which could be though of as infrastructural upkeep) but both research and military production would profit from that. There may be even other uses for such an ability. For example planets with mainly re
Sorry, double post... nothing to see here. Move along.
I don't know whether this has been reported before but I'll post it anyway. During the Achilles' Heel mission I found due to a coincidence that I could view the Dread Lords ship design screen by pressing the "i" key while having their planet selected. I could even use the "Back to planet" Button to view that too (they were terraforming but had only their capital and a starport). This exploit works for my allies too. I haven't trie
The shortcut for sentry mode is "s". I still have problems getting used to the "Tab" button for skipping over a fleet for later commands this turn. I keep pressing "w" (which is used in various other 4X games like Civ or Alpha Centauri) and watch my ships as they unexpectately go exploring the galaxy.
Simply copying the installed files to a disc will create some issues as you won't be able to recreate your registry keys by simply copying and pasting. True. Exporting the registry keys and copying them to the backup media as well is not that big a deal. But one should only toy with regedit if one knows what one's doing. <img src="http
Um, something to keep in mind. Even if you have 1/1/1 defense, it still rolls 1d3, not 1d1+1d1+1d1 I believe it's 2d1 in this case but could be wrong. I have another question on combat: when a fleet is attacked (eit
If the sub optimal defences are added together before taking the square root, but min roll = 1, then the principal is still the same, just with lower marginal utility, since the 1/1/1 defence would only guarantee no damage vs 2 attack. While the effect is small with low numbers it gets quite noticeable with higher ones. Imagine having 8/8 in non-op
If I recall correctly the formula for defense is: Roll(Def1) + Roll(sqrt(Def2+Def3)) and not Roll(Def1) + Roll(sqrt(Def2) + Roll(sqrt(Def3)) with Def1 representing the optimal defense value for the attack type and Def2 / Def3 the non-optimal defense values. Roll(i) is resulting in a integer between 0 and i . For the 1/1/1 defense example this would resolve to a defense roll between 0 and 2 which can be be
If you are going for the electronic download version anyway there's no reason not to choose the tokens. I did and everything went fine. If you expect to get the expansion (assuming there will be one - but why shouldn't there) or the upcoming unnamed "fantasy strategy game" it would be even more efficient to buy 10 tokens (for $69.99) and spend the first 5 on GalCiv II.
... and I thought US-4 was the precursor (horrible pun, I know) of that even more horrible boy band... Link
You forgot to mention the extra "bling".
Stardock will provide the appropriate threads to respond in. Man, I sure wish they had something like this in the World of Warcraft forum.
It already was stated that a big portion of the files will be available for download next week so we don't have to download the whole thing on the 21st. But don't expect to get everything needed to play the game before that day. edit: here's the thread Link
Ahm, you DO know that you can order GalCiv2 at the TotalGaming Network for 5 tokens (which "coincidentally" will cost you $39.95)? I guess that will be my choice because it is the cheapest way to get the preorder version here in Germany. edit: In case you're wondering: I'm going for the "download only" to avoid shipping costs and taxes.
