Could anyone who have tried beta 5 please explain how the updated economics works? What does "Mo Money" mean?

GreenReaper: Won't x64 versions of Windows be able to use more memory with "large address aware" without any further settings? Also, can I take it from your comment that the large address aware flag is set (or is going to be set in the next expansion)? That would certainly put my mind at ease, since the new GFX memory management stuff in Vista coupled with 1 GiB graphics cards and BIG maps in GC2 could potentially be a problem (if I'm reading you guys correctly) if the flag isn't set.
I'm not a programmer, but I'm pretty sure that if you set a large memory aware flag (or something, don't remember its exact name) Windows x64 versions would be able to address 3 or 4 GiB of RAM to the game. This could be particularly useful for Vista, since some changes to how graphics memory is handled in Vista makes the process use even more virtual memory than in XP. There have been a few articles on anandtech dealing with this issue (<a href="http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3

Hello all. I'm wondering how defense (optimal and non-optimal) works these days. Originally you simply took the square root of a non-optimal defense value to calculate it's efficiency, but then I read this in the changelog for Dark Avatar: "+ FIX: Fixed bug where non-optimal defenses were never decreased as the defenses absorbed damage during a battle round. ". If I'm reading this correctly it seems the way defense works has been changed at some point, but I can't find any mention of it in the m
Could somebody describe to me what this bug is? I'm about to start playing the expansion and it sounds like I should know about this.
If you logged on to the metaverse before starting the game the ship designs are located at my games\galciv2\metaverse\ships, otherwise they are in the my games\galciv2\ships folder
Would it be problematic to have an option for this in the video settings? You could even have a big scary dialogue pop up when we select 4096 textures or something I'm looking forward to the higher res textures (will probably be uber cool on my 23" 1920x1200 screen) <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 and there should be a prefs.ini file there
Are people having resolution problems? I am running at 1920x1200 and there are absolutely no problems with that. And the developers are trying to support all resolutions above 1024x768, so if you were to have a problem then it should get fixed pretty fast.
Me too on a 7800GTX. I have not had it happen when using the HW cursor though so it's no biggie.
Well the 9.0 grade is certainly deserved (and it should be even higher!). The Norwegian site gamer.no also liked the game and gave it a 8/10 (which is really good. A 9/10 is extremely rare). Go Stardock
If you want an effective invasion and war fleet you should have fast ships, and for transports you really should research advanced troop modules. You can then have really fast (10+ pcs/turn) troop transports and warships, and each troop transport can hold several thousand legions, so you only need a couple of them to take a planet. That's how I play at least. If you only focus on weapons, and no engines, then of course it is going to be a very slow pro
Okay this topic is obviously a very important and hot issue.... so my question is " where are the developers? " Frogboy, draginol (and other aliases?) has replied several times already, and he is the AI coder and the owner of Stardock. He even posted part of the game code to show how this issue is han
Thank you for that explanation Now I at least know how this is handled. This system just seems strange to me (so I needed to have it explained)... I just don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to "produce" 30 research points, while at the same time using my 36 manufacturing points. Factories and research centers are independent structures, so I don't see why they should limit each other. Edit: Veinless and I are in agreement it
It is the case. You must choose how you are spending you BC But I am not sure to undersatnd your problem. To illustrate with an example: I have a total of 20 military manufacturing points, 20 social manufacturing points and 10 research points. The way I think would be logical is to then be able to set the spending slider up to a max of 50b
My solution so far has been to name planets things like "Culture" and "Research" which is kind of dumb. And BTW, can you rename a planet or did I miss that option? Same here. I usually give names such as "Upper Right", or "Lower Drengin Border" so that I know where the planet is and what is appropriate to build there <img src="smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 A
/me is stupid. You spared me of a way too early awakening
I'm there . But exactly when is afternoon (EST)? EST is -5 GMT, right? And when is this afternoon? Thanks Edit: Ok, as far as i can understand EST is -6 hours from CET (central european time, which is +1 GMT), and if afternoon is from 1200->, that means I will have to get up at 0600 to follow the chat? If anyone
Hmm. They said that this site (www.galciv2.com) would start to transform in conjunction with BETA 3. Perhaps they are doing some work on it, and the journals for some reason went down..
Wohoo! I'm really looking forward to this. As far as i've understood GalCiv2 is going to be one of the very few games that truly support widescreen without any stretching and stuff. Much appreciated . I'm sure beta 3 will blow me away on my new shiny 23" LCD 30. August is too far away.....
