Captain Yar. Your tactic is good fun and very satsifying. I slight variation : If I am attacked by two civs, it is fun to plonk a well developed military star base in thier territory with a fleet in attendence, then let them bang their heads on it while I set about the other civ.

The people who score over a million points for a game, or beat it in less than one year, put me off submitting games. There did not seem any point. ( I never did get into the Alt Meta ) Now these guys are giving up, would make it a good time for ordinary players to come back. I submitted my first game for a long time. My aim is to be top in the empire I belong to, the Gerontocracy. Since I think I am the only active member, that should not be too difficult.[e digicons]:grin:[/

My Raid5 hard drives have crashed and I and about to ditch them and do a clean install on a single drive. ( much less hassle) I have all the incarnations of gc2. I only want to play TA. Which versions do I need to install and in which order? Thanks.

If you live outside of America, with a dial up connection, you would know why.

Another point. If you are "evil" attacking a "good" planet, most of the structures are " destroyed because you cannot use them ". So, you might as well destroy them during invasion tactics. I assume it works the other way as well. Good invading evil.

The internet links to America are slow and it can take forever to download a large file, especially if you just have dial up.

I didn't see it as comedy. I saw it as stating the obvious truth and disguising it as comedy to get away with it.

I find it easier just to turn it off. I wouldn't know how to turn the firewall off anyway. I don't play the game when I am online and I only turn it off to set up a game.

Thanks for the replies. I have found that it is my virus checker that is the problem. If I turn it off, then there is no problem. It also stops the random CTD's that I was getting with previous versions.

I think most places have a group of people who take old computers, do them up {mix and match parts} and then give them to people who cannot afford to buy one. I know my town does. Check it out. If you don't have one locally, why not get a group together.

I have upgraded TA to 1.95 and now I cannot set up a metaverse game. I get the message that I do not have an internet connection when clearly I do Have.

I find it amazing that there are some people that think the Americans are winning the war with Iraq. There are some Iraqis that think that killing Americans in Iraq is easier than killing them in America and will continue to do so. The serious players realise that the best way to get rid of them is to keep their heads down and once the Americans have gone, they can get on with the serious business of killing each other. As I see it, their are two possible outcomes in Iraq.<
