Can you do a walkthrough of your turns on gigantic maps? Or is it a trade secret [e digicons][/e] I just started up playing again, but I was playing TA for my first few games before I realized the points were probably better in DA due to how the techs worked. So I switched back, and I got an immediate 5k increase in score despite playing horribly. I read most of the old thread, and I'm curious how you fund your empire. I had serious p

So I just started playing again and I finished a couple games, but I'm curious as to what starting options maximize score. In GC1, you just turned off all the victory conditions, cranked up the difficulty, and went to work. Here this obviously isn't the case. I can only increase the difficulty from my last submitted game one more increment, but I only got 80k for the game. Looking at the top scores, people with the same galaxy setup are getting 1 million points, so o

Well, the stardock support/sales people got the problem fixed under 24 hours so I guess I'm not to pissed. Probably was for the best since I had 2 midterms to study for anyways. On a totally unrelated note, how come our medals from galciv 1 don't show up anymore? <-------- misses his top 25 icon.

So I have this problem as well, I gotta say this is the most trouble I have EVER had trying to get a game. First it took me a week to even get it ordered due to various server errors that the stardock store was having, now because I purchased the game with my stardock store account, which is NOT the same email address as my stardock.net account, I can't register the game. I did this with galciv 1, AP, galciv 2 and never had any problems. Why would SD change the way this works? Moreoever, why

What error are you getting? Well, I've gotten several different errors. One was the server didn't have a socket or something of that nature, the last 2 were Processing Error # 25, whatever that is.

I am unable to purchase DA, the stardock store keeps giving me errors on processing the order, it's very frustrating. Anyone else having this problem? With supreme commander coming out this week I might pick that up instead of stardock continues to have problems

those icons are the very same icons that appear when you zoom all the way out. the game is playable this way, but not very enjoyable. Does this also happen with a new game? or is it just this particular save? Im not sure what would cause it, but it sounds like a videocard driver issue to me (ive had similar things happen in other games).

I'm not seeing 5 minute turns, and I play on gigantic/abundant, but turns are taking longer than they used to. This is not saying you're not seeing 5 minute turns, or that my hardware is better than yours (looks about even, really). However, much of this can be caused by playstyle. Example of playstyle causing is

i dont think a single person here read my post at all. 1) TO grifman- thanks for making a useless, sarcasting and insulting post. I was playing on abudant prior to beta 3, and compared to prior patches, beta 3 has roughly double the number of planets on abundant for me. I know full well that i can lower the planet density by changing it off abundant, the point i was making is that the number of planets has increased substantially for me compared to previous versions, and as someone p

i have this set to display in the bug reports forum, im sure it will only post in the general forums and have to be moved by a moderator.... anyways, beta 3 has a couple of problems with it, and one of these most likely has many factors involved. problem 1: the relations degrading due to military strength needs tweaking. before, the AI would suicide because its ships were increadibly weak compared to mine, but they had > numbers so their overall military rating was higher, making

You must not know, but the Top X lists get updated once a day or so, probably in a nightly update of the server. So if you would have waited it would have been updated tomorrow morning most likely. If your scores don't sort themselves out by tomorrow then contact support and they can help you. while

this might have to do with your difficulty- i forget which ones start adding bonuses, but as you get higher up they are huge, upwards of 200% bonuses to various stats (production, miniturization, etc). Ive never really payed attention to the AI's individual ships, mostly because i dont get myself involved in wars until im at the point in the tech tree where i cant lose and what the AI has doesnt matter at all. I play on suicidal, and im guessing with

Well, i managed to get a game with a score of roughly 600k points, and i could have continued it for a long time and gotten more, but i just wanted to see where i was at, scorewise. Seeing how this was tripple all my other games, and the way the scoring system works (i believe its still total score/sqaure root of number of games played), i decided to clear my scores before submitting. AFter clearing my scores, i submitted the game to the metaverse.

He posted in another thread how he achieved his 1 million score. Pretty shadey stuff and "milking" of points to exploit the scoring system. I think it's under the metaverse forum, metaverse scoring thread. One of the later 20-ish posts. i read those posts prior to posting mys

What exactly are the factors in scoring? Even with the difficulty put on max, and gigantic size galaxy, with all victory options turned off save conquest victory, ive managed to only get roughly 200k points as a max score. Im looking at the number 1 person, and he has 2 games at 1 million or more, and i dont see how its possible. In my games, i research the entire tech tree (this boosts score ~50k points), and build every galatic wonder/achievement

i have found similar strange AI building behavior on the harder difficulties as well. Not only is the AI building huge amounts of cultural centers- they are building all their superprojects on special tiles. While the cultural centers is understandable, since i usually go for a culture flip on half their worlds so i can surprise attack their remaining 3-4 planets in 1 turn, the special tiles is very confusing. the kicker was in my current game, i flipped drengi, which was now a PQ 30 or so

on the harder difficulties, yes. econ might still be useful, but research really isnt since the AI is going to out research you anyways. The way you keep up is by trading (and this uses diplomacy). The point is, only 1 or 2 of the parties are useful. It would be nice if i could make a party with say, +20 diplomacy and +50 or +75 creativity, for example, and still have it work with the metaverse. You could do this in Galciv 1 and post to the metaverse, but im not sure if this will work in ga

I know in GalCiv1 you could make your own political parties and still be able to post scores to the metaverse... could i make my own party for galciv 2 and still be able to? or will the party be considered a mod? Of the starting parties, really only the populists have any truely useful bonuses, and it would be nice to put ablities together that actually work (ie the social production being bugged and not working??).

Why does the virtual reality center only increase moral by 40%, when the previous 2 buildings increase moral by 45 and 55%??? its a huge downgrade... why on earth would anyone research this tech? My guess is that it was supposed to be 70% increase moral, but someone goofed on the numbers somehow. Anyone else notice this?

Um..... how in the heck am i supposed to turn in my games?? ive finished 3 games so far and i havent had an option to turn them into metaverse, after i win the game and click done nothing pops up asking me to submit?

will it work in the tradional sense where your ships will fight together, so my 5 frigates might actually be able to destroy a dreadnaught or avatar? Another question is are there going to be specific commands available for fleet combat (i.e set which type of ships to go after first)? One thing that i really disliked about GC1 was the absense of fighters, and the utter uselessness of early ships. It would be nice if there were small bombers
