Cold, cold is what I mostly remember about my 4 years in NH. Gah! Nothing to do but drink, drink, drink, then try to study, then drink some more. Beautiful nights though. I used to stay up late often and I spent lots of time looking up at the stars.

Fairfax, VT. Oh, wow. That really is the middle of nowhere. I went to college in Hanover, NH, which is a couple hours away and an ex-girlfriend went to medical school in Burlington. I spent quite a bit of time in Vermont. Beautiful, but everywhere is so slow and quiet. I guess that gives you plenty of time for gaming, eh? Motti, nice job! Welcome to our new warriors!
Similarly, I think you crash if you fleet with a starbase.
Nice job! I'm back on the top 10 for universal again. Altmeta has my latest Twilight games.
As you noticed, military might affects diplomacy quite a bit. As a result, you need to place an emphasis on building your military and keeping tabs on the AI at all time. As you keep playing, you will start to get a sense as to when you need to really focus on building your military. My starports are always building something. The high production planets are building the best offensive ships. The lower production planets are building a smaller offensive ships or constructors. I usu
JustinSane4, you did a really great job getting those scores, especially considering how new we all are to the changes. One good thing is that the victory conditions should prevent people from going too crazy with point grinding (maybe?). Hopefully the scores will stay within reach of normal people. I'm currently trying to knock off Wyndstar's game for A Rock and a Hard Place, but it's not looking good. The Drengin AI is playing pretty well compared to what I'm used to facing.
Until the problem is fixed, is there a workaround? Do you know how I can avoid getting into this situation? It's difficult to play when I crash every few turns.
Nice job on the ZYW, KP! Oh right. Ya, no need for focus in ZYW's. I was just thinking about ToA in general about how it's harder to play. Hmm...If Magnumaniac can get 35k now when he's still learning the ToA ropes, maybe it won't be so bad once you figure out the best way to do it. It could be fun to figure out because the tech trees are so different. Anyone else doing ToA tournament games? It's a really nice diversion from standard gameplay and it's always fun to have an
There is a tutorial. I don't remember it very well because it's been a long time and I don't have it installed. I vaguely remember video and voice dialogue. But GC2 can be a fairly complex game. It'll be tough for a tutorial to cover everything. Reading through the manual at some point will likely be necessary, unless you like experimenting and figuring everything out yourself. But definitely, definitely don't let this stop you from buying the game. It's not that difficult
Thanks for updating this useful utility! With all the changes in ToA, I'd be totally lost without it.
Oh, nevermind. There is a delay before getting added to the leaderboard. The metaverse listings don't have a delay, so I didn't think the tournament leaderboard did.
I've played and finished 2 tournament games now that didn't get added to the tournament leaderboard. I just completed a Drengin Gambit and it's listed on my metaverse page, but not on the leaderboard. I beat it at suicidal and I beat the top score, so this is not cool. Neither game was flagged as a cheat or anything like that. Is there another criteria that I should be aware of in order for the game to be valid for the tournament leaderboard?

ToA v1.91 When I use the place spy button in the far left, then click on a planet, or click the spy button, my game crashes. It is somewhat repeatable. I've had the same crash at least a dozen times now. After I crash, I reload the game and I can place a spy successfully. After I keep playing, maybe a turn or two later, I'll crash again if I try to place a spy. debug.err, SmartException and savegame will be emailed to .
Did Wyndstar get his problem fixed with his game install? He was getting a message saying that he was cheat flagged even before he started a game. He helped me a lot when I first started coming to these forums, but I haven't seen a post from him since his post in the support forum.
I'm now having a similar problem to DroneFragger. I'm getting a crash when I try to place a spy. I usually use the 'place agent' button on the far left of interface. I've crashed a bunch of times over the past half dozen turns now. It doesn't happen every time, so I'm currently at a loss as to the cause. I'll crash, reload, then try again and it will work. I'll keep playing, then crash again the next time I try to place a spy.
Heh, KP. Nice writeup. You basically wrote a how-to on doing ZYW games in your style. Did you keep any secret tricks up your sleeve? :) I did try a ZYW in ToA, and yes, you can use ARC. I've only made one custom race so far for ToA and it's a Super Breeder Altaria with economic, morale and research points. ZYW is definitely harder in ToA due to the increased economic costs and weakened focus. I did it using transports and I barely won before running out of money. I'm sure
I've currently playing Drengin Gambit at suicidal level. The AI is being really stupid, so I was wondering if maybe the game randomly picked really weird AI settings for it. 1) I'm at war with Altaria. I have a few weak ships stationed immediately outside their home planet. Instead of building military ships, it builds constructors and transports. Then it stupidly sends them out, undefended, wh
The key here is that the OP plays against 10 races. That will invariably mean multiple types of weapons and defenses to counter. As a result, it makes sense why using a dual weapon type approach could work well for the OP. I'm not sure what difficulty he plays, but that also makes a huge difference. I usually can't afford the time and effort to research two separate weapon lines. I usually play small and medium abundant maps with fewer AI. I also start warring extremely early. Som
I just finished an Altaria Resists tournament game. This was the first time I really played a game with Dread Lords, so I don't know their standard behavior. They packed their planets with farms, yet somehow their population never seemed to grow to any significant amount. This is at suicidal.
It's been erratic for at least the past month, since I started visiting these forums regularly. Sometimes it's nice and fast, but there are times when it takes so long that I give up and go somewhere else.
I had a repeatable crash and I eventually discovered it was due to Gravity Accelerators. When it is built or bought, the game immediately crashes.
It diminishes the accomplishments of the best players to say that to get such scores "it's basically point grinding". They score higher than us because they are better at the game than us.
If I insulted anyone, I apologize. I did acknowledge that it takes skill to get the top scores. But even for them, I can't imagine that they enjoy the process it requires to get those scores. My point is that the scoring reflects a combination of skill and patience for point
The economy is the reason why I almost always play a Super Breeder race. As random50 explained, keeping the morale at 100% for as long as possible is the quickest way to get your economy up and running. Even when my economy is solid, I still keep my planets with a population below 9 billion at 100% morale. I value morale bonuses heavily because morale = economy, especially for a Super Breeder. During the colony rush, I will gladly sacrifice production if it means I can have a
