Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

please note that you can not use ARC in either Dread Lords or Twilight, so don't bother trying.

Very interesting description KP - thank you!

(What were your scores using Planetary Invasion? Have to stick with DL at the moment...)

Thanks Silver. It's been a long time since I played DL, and I havent tried TA yet. Although, Magnumaniac said in the Year Zero Club thread that he was using ARC in TA.

My scores at that time were probably 15-20% less, but my tactics were also less refined.

Kzinti Empire, this is a warning from our new allies the Twili Empire, they say that either surrender or have your planets sucked into the Twilight Realm.

Heh, KP. Nice writeup. You basically wrote a how-to on doing ZYW games in your style. Did you keep any secret tricks up your sleeve? :)

I did try a ZYW in ToA, and yes, you can use ARC. I've only made one custom race so far for ToA and it's a Super Breeder Altaria with economic, morale and research points.

ZYW is definitely harder in ToA due to the increased economic costs and weakened focus. I did it using transports and I barely won before running out of money. I'm sure that with practice, it'll go much smoothly, but it's very doubtful that a ToA game can compete in terms of score.

Ran over a Kzinti today, I sure hope it was the 1 that was craping in my flower bed. Or do you run in packs?

Did Wyndstar get his problem fixed with his game install? He was getting a message saying that he was cheat flagged even before he started a game. He helped me a lot when I first started coming to these forums, but I haven't seen a post from him since his post in the support forum.

Not sure, I havent talked to Wyndstar the last few days.

I did give a good amount of info, but I didnt detail everything. It wouldnt be any fun if I revealed every last bit of tactics ;) Also, people will work out their own play-style if they try the ZYWs. I dont use focus for ZYWs actually...how do you use it for those games? At 100% research production I dont think it does anything. And here's my latest ZYW acheivement. I've now tied Magnumaniac's record!

On this forum should the "Sandbox" games be referred to as "Litter box"

Nice job on the ZYW, KP!

Oh right. Ya, no need for focus in ZYW's. I was just thinking about ToA in general about how it's harder to play. Hmm...If Magnumaniac can get 35k now when he's still learning the ToA ropes, maybe it won't be so bad once you figure out the best way to do it. It could be fun to figure out because the tech trees are so different.

Anyone else doing ToA tournament games? It's a really nice diversion from standard gameplay and it's always fun to have another ladder/ranking. I just took the top score for one of the games, but the other 3 are owned by members of other empires!

Oh yes, excellent ZYW score there KzintiPatriarch!  :CONGRAT:

CityMan: I played 2 ToA tournament games before but only for one of them my score got carried over to the ladder (#5 at that point in time; the other was something comparable). When it comes to ladders I do prefer the Metaverse League setups though :)

Congratulations on bumping me to second in the Drengin Gambit tournament CityMan. :) I'd been #1 on three of the four tournaments for a bit, but there was not way that was going to last once more people started playing. :)

If you haven't tried the tournaments, you should; they are a lot of fun. In addition, there's still a Diplomat on top in two of the tournaments, and I doubt the Kzinti empire can allow that for long. :)

JustinSane4, you did a really great job getting those scores, especially considering how new we all are to the changes. One good thing is that the victory conditions should prevent people from going too crazy with point grinding (maybe?). Hopefully the scores will stay within reach of normal people.

I'm currently trying to knock off Wyndstar's game for A Rock and a Hard Place, but it's not looking good. The Drengin AI is playing pretty well compared to what I'm used to facing.
I know Wyndstar put some effort into score grinding in that one. I have a decent start going in a game I left for lack of time where I think I may have had a shot, but only like 30% or so, of beating that score. One complicating factor: In the beta, the MCC worked. I don't know if that is something that can be overcome, score-wise.

A great welcome to our newest warriors...Danne Man & Lilcupcake! :D

Today I took the #1 All-Time spot on the AltMeta. :)

Once I finish my current game I'll finally download TA (hope it doesnt give me errors this time) and give it a test-drive. Looks like the tournaments are pretty fun!

Thanks, KP and Noctilucus. :)

And congrats, KP! :CONGRAT:

I had to go ahead with the final submit on the game with the exception error problem still happening. I've gotten farther than when I first had the problem, but with the help of some Tyranny members, I was able to determine that there's something amiss on my gaming machine.

My best option is to wipe this computer and dedicate it to gaming. I grabbed one of the distributed computing machines from the garage and will set it up as my internet surfer before wiping this one. It's nice to have spares. :)

Seriously I'm considering joining the Kzinti again. Great work.

Thanks Motti. :) I dont think I would have had the patience to complete that game! It will be good to have a machine devoted & configured completely for gaming. I'm due for an upgrade for mine, which I'll do in a couple weeks after I move. Just moving about 1/2 hour away, to the tiny little town of Fairfax, Vermont. As the saying goes, it's just a "wide place in the road."

Seriously I'm considering joining the Kzinti again. Great work.
