OK, as of right now it seems to be working. Once again, the file can be downloaded from: Link At the moment, it is located on a geocities account and is a bit over 2MB, so I can't guarantee it will always be up. I'll try to put it somewhere better ASAP.

We could go to one of the stardock central chat rooms. the #SDCentral is usually pretty empty.
Any chance we could do this over IM or something, so that the back and forth goes a bit quicker?
Oh man, I'm really batting 1000 today, aren't I. Try it again, it should work now.
Ok, I uploaded a new version of the installer. Run the uninstaller, install the new version. Uninstall it again. Then reinstall it. The first thing you should see after you run it the first time is a dialog box asking you to select your Galciv 2 directory. Once you have selected this, everything should hopefully run fine. If not, there will now be an error.txt file in the install directory, which should hopefully shed some light on where the problem is. Once again, here is
Ok. I'm going rewrite a few things to give better error reporting. I've only tried this on two computers, and neither had a problem. I'll try to have something up as soon as possible. The only other thing I can think of to check is to see if your directx is up to date.
Try opening up the file directly from where you installed it, hopefully the shortcut is where the problem is at. If you want, you can go ahead and IM me. My AIM screen name is ricree101. I'd love to get this problem out of the way.
What exactly is happening when you try to open it? Are you getting an error message? Also, .NET 2.0 is required. Do you have that installed?
Hi everyone, I'd like to announce that I have been working on a map editor for Galciv2, and I finally gotten it to a point where I feel comfortable releasing it. It has a few features that I think you will especially enjoy, such as a full 3D display, and it allows you to easily click and drag objects on the map. At the moment, it is missing a few features, most notably an automatic generator for maps, but I hope to have it available soon. You must have .NET 2.0 and
UPDATE: There was a problem with the first verion I posted which prevented the maps from saving correctly. The problem is now fixed. If anyone downloaded this before 5:00pm central on 8/8/06, you should uninstall that version and download the current one. Ok, here is a link to he download: link="http://www.geocities.com/rar3333/Galciv2MapEditorSetup.zip"]Link">Link The program uses some textures and models from Galciv2, so you have to have it installed before you can use the
I don't know whether anyone still cares about an editor, but since GC2:Builder seems like it's not going to be updated I decided to finish an editor that I started a while back. I'm hoping to have an early version posted either today or tomorrow. As it stands now, it is more limited than GC2:Builder, but I'm hoping to have it at that level before too long. That said, there are a few things that I think my editor does better than GC2:Builder. Most notably, I have a full 3-D display, a
Besides being in the same genere, it doesn't really look all that similar. I've been looking at this game for a while, and it does have a couple neat features such as randomly generated parts of the tech tree and different types of momvement for each race. That said, it looks to be a bit more focussed on multiplayer than I'd prefer, and the AI sounds like it will be nothing special. It' s a new company, so it will be interesting to see how well the execution turns out. If it turns
Hmm... ok. You're right about the epic field. Back in MOO3 (ok I know GalCiv 2 is no MOO), I could field fleets that had hundreds of ships (with the correct mods), and I had several thousand ships (of all kinds) in reserve. I was hoping that such stuff would be possible in GalCiv 2 too. You know, I'm not sure that your point is well mad
I tend to prefer Neutral. The extra trade routes are really nice, and being in the middle is pretty good for relations with the other civs.
I don't think that words can express how much I have wanted a game like this to be made. Did I ever mention that I love you guys, because Stardock really rocks.
Also, ships from previous patches won't be displayed. The ship save file format was changed a bit this time around.
Oooo.... where's the model from? Don't really know the answer to your question, sorry.
I have found that the AI can at times be paranoid. In my last game, I had three different races give me the whole "I know what you're doing" speach during a war with a fourth race. It's kind of funny, though. I probably would have left them alone normally, but they got on my nerves enough that I decided to go ahead and conquer them.
At most, I'd say that the AI needs to do a better job of targetting mining starbases when they are at war. Then again, I'm still at normal, so I don't know if the AI does this on intelligent.
I really liked the intro movie. Tthe others are pretty good, but nothing really outstanding.
You can definitely do it in a custom map. I think it is possible to do for normal games as well, but I'd have to doublecheck on it.
I might be wrong about this, but I think that some of the influence starbase spamming might be for the purpose of increasing range.
The forum isn't letting me go back and edit, so here is a working link. Link
I have a fairly rough verion completed. It can be downloaded from Link . It's kind of bare bones right now, and I definitely plan to improve on it, but I'd like to get some feedback first. BTW, the source code is at Link
Ok, I'm pretty much done with an initial working version. Does anyone know a good place where I can put it up online?
