I downloaded this from sourceforge. and downloaded .net 2.0 from microsoft and have GC2 gold edition with dark avatar and when i unzip the file I can see any instructions on how to install the editor and there is no executable file. So the question I have is what am I doing wrong?
There are two files that can be downloaded. One is the source code, and the other has an installer. Did you download the source code instead of the installer? [link="http://downloads
I'm sorry, but this entire concept seems horridly involved, massively complicated, and entirely pointless. This would be game-breaking for any of the larger maps - conquest victories would take so long there'd be no reason to attempt one. If I can flip a planet more quickly than I can conquer it, why would I bother building transports? OTOH, spore ships would see a lot more use
I disagree. With the ideas mentioned in this thread there would be very little extra
One might be given more choice, though: pre-invasion orbital bombardment of farms could decrease the defender's troop count;
You can do that now with spies, although I usually prefer to hit the morale buildings and us information warfare.
Ugh, what would be the Drengin equivalent of a Chuck E. Cheese? A torture chamber? (not that that isn't entirely unlike Chuck E Cheese )
I'm pretty sure that Chuck E Cheese is the Drengin equivalent.
I'm not a big fan of micromanagement, unless it actually adds some challenge to the game. A system where we had to move ships back to planet orbits for an upgrade, and then back to where you want them on the map, just seems like busywork to me. At least the upgrade isn't instantaneous, and there are some strategic concerns like not letting a ship sit defenseless in enemy territory during the upgrade cycle.
It wouldn't necessarily be much extra micromanagement. For
I agree with all, but especially NUMBER 7! But then again, sequels are rarely as good as the real original...It had better to the likes of Godfather II.
I'm not sure that I agree with that statement when it comes to games. Many game sequels are as good as, if not better than the originals. Off the top of my head, I preferred Galciv2, Baldur's Gate 2, and Halflife 2 over the originals. While sequels can certainly be bad, especially if the publisher or developer decides
Hi everyone. I really want to apologize for effectively abandoning this project. It wasn't something I meant to do, but things kept popping up, and one thing lead to another until poof, it's been months since the last update. I realize that there are still some major issues left to iron out, but unfortunately it is unlikely that I will have time to release an update until after this semester has ended. At that point, I do fully intent to resume updating, I just hope that people are still int
I;m going to have to chime in as one of the people who would love to at least see the logging data stay in. While I would love to see the epic generator, the data could at least be usefull for community projects.
I'd love to see an all around governor overhaul that would allow us to mix and match different conditions. For example, there may be situations where I want all ships of type A that are currently going to rally point P to go to rally point T instead. Or maybe I want all ships that are currently at rally point P to go to R, but those en route to P do not change. Or finally, I might want all ships of a certain type except for those going to point P to change to point R. I thi
Actually we won't be entertaining these requests, for everyone's information. We don't make any additional revenue off re-sold copies and it costs us money to support these types of requests. True, but you could make the exact same argument about providing patches. Once someone has bought your game, patching the game provides you with nothing ex
I think an official editor should be made, as TBH the unnoficial ones aren't that good. Out of curiosity, what are the biggest problems you have. Feedback has been pretty limited so far. I can't make any promises, because my time has been limited recently, but it will at least give me an idea what needs to be a priority.
Azrune, We've seen the following ships, as far as I'm aware: Earth: Cruiser (Pillar of autumn) Frigate (In Amber Clad) Pellican Dropship Longsword fighter Covenant: Cruiser (either one or two types, I don't remember if the Halo ones were the same as the halo 2 ones) Carrier Halo 1 dropship Halo 2 dropship Banshee The earth defense stations and high charity don't count, as neither of them fit the role that ship
I guess it would be possible, although it wouldn't really be all that easy, since Halo has focused primarily on ground combat, which is nearly absent in Galciv 2. That said, it would be possible. Since we've seen so few ships, you would need people to mostly design new parts that follow the design philosophy the races show in the halo games. The problem is, at the moment people haven't really taken to parts design nearly as much as they have for total ship redesign. I think it is a huge
Hi everyone. Sorry that there hasn't been an update for so long. I've been pretty bogged down with school and a few other projects I'm working on. Progress is still plodding along on mod support, plus a few other changes I'm throwing into the mix. I can't say with any degree of certainty when the next update will be. I have thanksgiving week off, so I may be able to get it done then. After that, I plan on adding scenario and campaign editors into the mix. By the way, between the
I'm fairly certain that it will be playable offline. From what they've said, the internet will be mostly for trading your creatures, buildings, etc with each other.
I agree. New parts would be much preferable to just models. I'm not sure whether or not it is possible.
Was the AI code hidden for commercial reasons? I don't know about the other things, but the AI is all hard coded into the game. Even if we had the code, it really wouldn't help much, since we'd have to have to be able to recompile the game to do anything with it.
my spealing is bad due to dislexia, the fact i don't cheak it lazieness Lordpinko, consider using firefox 2.0 as your browser. It comes with a built in spellcheck for text boxes.
Do you have .NET 2.0 installed? If not, you can get it from microsoft. If not, any other information you can give would be very helpful, since I have not personally experienced this problem. WWW Link
Why link to a forum post which links to spore rather than simply linking to spore in the first place?
Go with blender. It is free, reasonably small, and lets you do editing. The directx SDK is extreme overkill for what you want. In addition, it has .x exporting by default.
In Arizona, if you are caught going either 20 or 25 over the limit (I don't remember which), you are automatically taken to jail. That's pretty ridiculous. Remind me never to visit Arizona.
Well, you could always play on custom maps
The AI could, in theory, be planning what it wants to do while you're playing your turn. I'm almost completely certain that it does. In fact, I believe that the reason the original game was made for the OS/2 was because it had the best multithreading support.
Hi everyone, my school just had its big computer conference this weekend, and the speakers were really excellent. A number of the talks were videotaped and made available online. I thought that some people here might be interested, so here is the link to the download site. The talks by Adrian Bowyer, Jawed Karim, and Joel Spolsky are particularly interesting, but almost all of the presentations are halfway decent.
