Yeah see that's another good point. I might not like patch 1.XX and want to play with an older patch 1.X.1, but, I can't do this once I've updated through Stardock Central. See. So, they should go back to the OLD way and just let us PICK our patches instead of all this forcing BS.

I've never had so much hassle in my life trying to get updates/patches. First you gotta download Stardock Central (on dialup that takes a long time) then when it finally finishes and you install it and logon you gotta download a GD patch for Stardock Central (another long waiting period for this bs) Then You gotta logon with the "correct" email address you used when you registered the game(s). Well I use a LOT of email addresses and I caN't remember which ones I used to register what. It took me
I like Alpha Centauri's teching up much better. You pick a "catagory" not an actual tech to spec. You might get what you want and you might have to tech it several times to get it. Blind teching is the most fun and Alpha Centauri gives the players the "option" to use blind teching or specific teching. I prefer to play blind teching myself. If I recall Master of Orion II had some simularities to blind teching as well. Think I'll go play some Alpha Centauri now. <img src="http://images.stardock.co
I'd rather play Capitalism III (Or II which I have) than any Sim City. Just not enough to do except lay roads and land and piddle with city employees who complain about everything you do. You guys want a real test of metal in a business sense play Capitalism II, that's a game with real meat. My other favorite business simulation is/was Industry Giant II, but, unfortunately it doesn't work on newer video cards and that means having to play it on another system or changing out my video card everyt
Where I can see where the OP is coming from games like these and their "TECH TREES" that are LINEAR and the same structure everytime get boring. Now, if anyone has played the new CIV IV you would have found they changed this tech tree linarity by allowing you to advance beyond having to do everything in a specific order. What these types of games tech trees need is breakthru teching at various random times in the game. Yeah it can give someone an advantage, but, that's the fun and challenge of b
1. The higher your morale value the more you can tax people thus the better your economy. It also effects voting when you're a republic or having a voting society. If it's low in the red or like below 45 then you could get voted out of office and lose your politician bonus you got at the start of the game for some turns. Population is the key to success for invasions, if you have low populations the growth rate is slower, whereas huge populations can yield you a 1000 man troup transport and hard
Hey I can play 100 games. Why can't you?
Vista is like Starforce, now you all know about Starforce right? They were the ones that tried to get GCII pirated easily by that nincompoops comments that worked or hehe maybe used to work for Starforce. So, boycott Vista like you boycott Starforce.
If you play more of an EVIL type player you'll get activity from the AI. I normally played around neutral in my early games and found I could do almost anything without the AI ever declaring war on me except some puny EVIL race with 4 colonies which I stomped in the dirt. lol Think about reality, good rarely fights good unless provoked or "paid off" haha like I do sometimes and have some good/neutral races get it on with each other, then pay off another as those are weakening to take on the vict
Is there a Babylon 5 mod for Dread Lords?
I play on PAINFUL and set all the races to WARY with me at the start and play on medium map, common habitable planets, occassional planets per star and abundant stars, occassional anomolies. If you want a challenging and fair game this one will do it. You might be lucky to get 4-10 planets most, depends on your start area and what initial techs you take. I play a custom build and I still find the AI very challenging. Also use the enhanced CPU feature turned on. You can't just play ONE
Ahhh so it's 4 per sector, hrmmmm, yeah I guess that's all I'm planting in most sectors is 4 anyways, but, I coulda sworn they had to be 3 spaces apart in one game I played I got a DING and a message "too close to other starbase" lol guess that's the part I DREAMED. I found this in the History log of Patches: PoliticalParties.xml - Added Totalitarian party ( Economy +10%, Military Production +20%, Loyalty +10% ) - Added Expansionist party ( Speed +1 parsec, Range +20%,
I have: Amd 3200 2 sticks 512mb ram Nvidia GEforce 7600 LS 512mb 550 watt power supply Game runs awesomely and I have Oblivion and Rome Total Crap War as well that require a lot of graphics power and they run smoothly also. What is your virtual memory optimized at? I run mine at 3000mb and everything works so smoothly that I play. I don't have those kiddie first person shooter games except BF1942 (someone gave it to me for a present) and it runs great also. <br
A trick i always used to do in galciv1 to gain recource starbases was to surround a starbase with constructors then give a ship to an AI race at war with the starbase owner. As long as you had that ship surrounded it would always attack the starbase. That trick dousn't seem to work as well in galciv 2. especially since it is normally quite pointless mining galactic recources. They are usually in strategically inconvinient locations, and building on them
Lol I don't know if I dreamed this, but, I coulda swore in the update readme it said that there was another choice Totalitarian placed in the Political section while creating a race...Think it was like 10 eco and 10 or 20 military and 5 of something else. It ain't showing up in the policial choice section. Then also, I could have swore in an earlier game that they had implemented REQUIRED 3 space spacing between starports so as not to exploit placing starports all over the place and ge
Yup Kyro said it best you can't win with a poor economy so it's always part of any victory anyways.
Expansion expansion expansion, it's all about expansion and early in the game. Take Ion drive right off the bat and build you a movement 5 colony ship and BUY them. Don't wait for them to be built by industry. Travel out as far as you can go and try to get those 10pt planets early. Then worry about the miniscule planets behind you later on when your big productive planets are churning out colony ships in a few turns. You also don't have to stock every colony ship with 500 pleebs. I get by on 200
Yes it's easy to win on the lowest difficulty isn't it?
In 2222 the population of the world in humans will be nill to none. Environmental things will happend to destroy mandkind. Nuclear fallout will destroy 2/3rds of it before that because someone IS GOING TO PRESS THE BUTTON before then. So really 5 billion is farfectched and not realistic. Roaches and Ants will evolve rapidly from the radiation fallout and become the new supreme species on earth. They will a
I like writing negative reviews because there are far too many fanboish reviews. People need to see both sides of the game in light and darkness. Since there is already too much light for them I tend to go to the DARK SIDE. But, if a game is really good and I really can't see any really negative qualities in them then I usually give it good credits. From all the emails I have gotten heh both good and bad I
People play ONE or TWO games and think they know it all how the AI is going to play. Well it ain't that way. When you've played 100 games and they all turn out the same then you have a right to bitch. Until then just because one game became a victory for you doesn't mean "every" game will turn out so well. Each galaxy and each game is different and each outcome can be just as different. So, to OP I suggest you start your 100 game play before bitching anymore.
Lol Yundog is an idiot. When clearly ever poll ever taken has shown Single Player vs computer is 9x more wanted than any MP features. MP features are merely a plus for those that like to play both. But, the I's have it and SINGLE PLAYER vs COMPUTER wins out everytime bud. So, you might as well take your trollish attitude and go play another one of your "kiddie clickfest" games against your other brainless friends. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="abs
I think what must be weighed about the AI is just how many people CAN beat the AI on anything higher than normal or perhaps tough? That's the most important issue here. If only 2% of the community or people that purchased the game can beat the game above normal or tough then Stardock has done an excellent job with the AI. Of course there's no clear way to get a real stat on what percent of the game sales can beat the game above normal or tough. But, with all the good reviews, the number of sales
I bet he bought a DELL! lol
Lol Frogboy you tell him. You know there's always going to be a "troll" on every forum that doesn't like the game and writes a post of rubbish about the AI like the OP. I myself find the game a wonderful challenge, but, I also start every race "at war" with me. I play it like a Warlords IV game where there are no alliances (for me at least) and I don't get any retinues in this like I do in Warlords IV which has killer AI on the top two levels without monster retinues. This is a great
