Did I Dream this Stuff??

Where's Totalitarian Choice and Starport spacing?

Lol I don't know if I dreamed this, but, I coulda swore in the update readme it said that there was another choice Totalitarian placed in the Political section while creating a race...Think it was like 10 eco and 10 or 20 military and 5 of something else. It ain't showing up in the policial choice section.

Then also, I could have swore in an earlier game that they had implemented REQUIRED 3 space spacing between starports so as not to exploit placing starports all over the place and getting rediculus amounts of bonuses from them spread out to many planets. The game I just been playing and the one before it both allowed me to place starports anywhere I want them side by side next to planets, suns, anywhere. Did I dream this change or what has happened to that?

I'm running edition 1.04 DreadLords GalCiv II, even reinstalled 1.04 just to be sure and these two items ain't appearing or working.

Hi!
REQUIRED 3 space spacing between starports

From your further text it's obvious you're speaking of STARBASES in space, not starports on planets. The only limit they have is 4 per sector, resource ones excluded.

I'm running edition 1.04 DreadLords GalCiv II

Your version of the game is almost ancient. The last DL one is IIRC 1.50.060. And even in this one there isn't a Totalitarian party. Pitty I'd say.

Ahhh so it's 4 per sector, hrmmmm, yeah I guess that's all I'm planting in most sectors is 4 anyways, but, I coulda sworn they had to be 3 spaces apart in one game I played I got a DING and a message "too close to other starbase" lol guess that's the part I DREAMED.

I found this in the History log of Patches:

PoliticalParties.xml
- Added Totalitarian party ( Economy +10%, Military Production +20%, Loyalty +10% )
- Added Expansionist party ( Speed +1 parsec, Range +20%, Population Growth +20% )

See, I wasn't dreaming this where are the Totalitarian party and Expansionist party choices in the Politcial Selection of the game?

EDIT: Also I futher found these that I don't see in the game as well...what's XML files anyways?

TechTree.xml
- There is now a branch of 4 techs from Advanced Hulls that increase your ship HP (2 were moved from after Master Hull Building)
- A new "Supreme Logistics" tech has been added after "Ultimate Logistics" that increase your logistics by 15
- A new branch of 5 techs for increasing your Repair ability has been added from Basic Logistics

StarbaseModules.xml
- Added "Starship Repair Bay" module for increasing repair ability for ships in the base's area of effect (Requires new "Basic Starship Repair" tech)

Well, I used to be that you needed spacing between your starbases. As I remember it it, 1.4 was a pretty big update and had a number of tweaks go into it. That could explain why you remember things differently.

XML files are data files. All they have is names and values.

And I think I remember seeing the Totalitarian party thing, but I wasn't looking for it. I don't remember what version it was for, though.

This stuff is in the Example Mod that was added in 1.2, not the base game.

Starbases had to be spaced apart in 1.0, but this was later dropped in favor of simply limiting them to 4 per sector (not including resource bases).
