I am running a GW FX530XT with ATI 1950's in crossfire under Vista. WHen I try to start the game, it starts to load then just goes into lala land. I have to kill it via task manager. Anyone seen this problem before? Thanks Jim
To all Thanks for the advice and help. I got it fixed. I went into Prefs.ini in My Games and manually edited the file to set the resolution to 1680x1050. Once I did that, it came up fine. Thanks again!! V/R Jim Gerretson

I just bought a Syncmaster 215T and put it on my system. I am running 6800GT nvidia card with 256 meg and the latest drivers (as of yesterday) from the nVidia site. I have also upgraded GalCiv to latest version and when I start the game I get the first screen where I can the choices of play, etc. When I click on play, the screen goes black and nothing happens. I bring up Task Manager and it says GalCiv is running, but nothing ever happens. I am only seeing this with GalCiv. all other games
I just upgraded to a Samsung SyncMaster 215. I am running a 6800GT with 256 megs and the latest drivers. Galciv II stopped working after the upgrade. I click on start and the screen goes black and bringing up the task manager says it is running but it never comes off of black screen. Any thoughts. I am running the monitor in digital mode. Thanks for the comments. Not sure how you would know the campaign isn't the pace to start. And if you are playing on the easiest setting, it shouldn't be impossible to win. And I am not sure how to learn the game mechanics without playing the game. I did play the "normal" universe game for awhile and won there.
I think the concept of this game is so cool, and I have spent over a week trying to play it. Apparently the AI settings are completely false. I have been playing the dread lord campaign and no matter what setting I use, I get waxed. In the last htree campaigns, I set it to cakewalk, yet I start out in last place as far as the civs go. Inside of 20 rounds, I am so far behind the power curve that the only way I "won" several of the campaigns was to g
