If you have edited the .xml files in the metaverse directory, then this could cause such issues.

If you look at the recent news postings, there's a basic stragegy guide up. Other than that, I try to research morale and economic boosting techs quickly. Additionally, if you are ahead in the tech race, you can sell techs to shore up your economy during difficult times.
I'm not sure if it will be a parch or expansion. GalCiv1 was enhanced significantly before the expansion was released.
Congrats to Stardock. Here's to many more sales. Copy protection is Dead! Long Live GalCiv! Long Live Stardock!
The license terms in the EULA specifically grant you the right to install the game on two computers that you own/are the primary user on. That covers half of it. As HEEGZ says, you can archive the downloaded files and transfer them to another computer with SDC and restore the game from the archive. That will save yout he trouble of downloading the game twice.
As mentioned above, the result should be that the influence values for all civilizations are reduced substantially. You should see the influence borders shrink.
Always good to see a new convert. Welcome to the customer side
While you can edit the xml files, be aware that if you edit the metaverse XML files, your game will be flagged as cheating. If you don't plan to submit, then go for it!
As mentioned above, the manual is slightly out-of-date on this issue. However, it's my understanding that improving the espionage system is a high priority for any expansion. I think Brad even mentioned the ability to recruit agents of varying abilities as one possibility.
Be very careful with your treasury balance. As mentioned above, heavy debt is the most likely cause for the issue you are reporting. Remember that you can adjust your spending and tax rates through the domestic policy button to prevent this kind of disaster.
4.5 out of 5... Editor's choice. Link It's great to see the ratings pour in now. Congrats to the Stardock crew
Congrats.. Now if only that %@#%@#ed Yahoo 4/5 score weren't hurting your average.
It's always great to see the converted pirates posting in here. Stardock's strategy of making it easy to be their customer really works. Heck, it got me to buy games and the Object Desktop suite from them.
Hmmm... If you traded the ship to another race, and they traded it to the Iconians...
One thing to add here... If you think that copy protection really makes a difference, then check out the "scene" release dates (Translation: When the game, movie, etc. is available in the Warez circles) and compare them to the street dates for most big programs. You'll find that even with recent copy protection, most high profile games are available Warezed starting a few days to a week before street date. For reference, check nforce.nl for a reasonably comprehensive listing of war
Now that the crunch time has wound down a bit, I was curious if Stardock had made any decisions regarding how the TG.net phase 1 people can purchase an upgrade to a boxed copy of GalCiv 2 so they can have the pretty manuals and such for their collection. I know that tokens are out of the question, but details on how to accomplish the upgrade would be appreciated.
Perhaps he is confused by the OD.net subscription plan?
I went into a new game, selected the Torians and reset their attributes to nothing. I then clicked next to get to the opponent selection screen, then back to return to the player race selection screen. Clicking on the custom race slot replaced it with the modified torians, but kept my custom race name.
The custom race MV exploit mentioned here: Link is still valid in 4E. The remainder of the post is no longer valid. To clarify: custom uberraces can still enter the MV games.
The beta 4e audio sliders now go from 0-10000 instead of 0-100, and 10000 displays as 100...
Edit's being a bit wonky again... Therefore. After taking my custom race into game, I exited back to the main menu as before, and I am now unable to login to the metaverse. I can enter my login info, but I get dumped back to the main menu without message after a few runs through the progress animation. Hitting new game afterwards takes me to the metaverse screen. Hitting back and then new game again returns me to the new game screen Backing
While the Metaverse uses a protected dataset for the AI races, there's no checking of the player's custom race. To test this, I edited all standard races down to only hyperdrive tech, and built myself a uberpowered custom race via object edit (text editing the save file). When I started a new MV game, I found that the standard races were back to their completely unbalanced glory, but my ubercustom race still stood. It looks like you need
I had a very similar issue with saving a custom race... The result, captured by SmartException, was emailed to Stardock as requested.
I've come across a bit of a bug in the beta 2 research screen. You can currently double click on ANY technology to research it, regardless of whether or not you have the prerequisites. It's interesting researching death rays when I only have laser 3 researched.
I've downloaded it, but I can't activate it
