I remember there used to be a problem with the AI's not initializing. They would just sit there. Is that still happening to anyone or could this be what happened?

Also, one way that they may have such high attack and defense values is if they have weapons and defenses picked for their racials. With the Drengin you can start out with +45% to your weapons, I believe. This is the combination of their innate skill, spendable points, and the war party government. So that little ship you built that has 10 attack? Now it would have 14 or 15 (depending on the rounding). And this is without including bonuses you get from maxing out a military resource or the

Wait a second....You are complaining about the AI actually THINKING ON ITS OWN?!?! Also, why are you wanting to force the AI to use a certain weapon?

I usually play on challenging and the AI is very smart when I play. There are almost always 3 ships escorting a transport. Granted they are usually smaller ships, but I cannot just hit them with any ship. They also react to my new ship changes within about 4 turns. One thing that I am disappointed about in DA is that the AI seems to ignore extra engines. So far all ships have only had a move of 2. Also, learn about grammar. Much much more smarter makes my head hurt.

Also make sure to space out your upgrades. Don't upgrade your research centers until you have finished the industrial\econ building upgrades, and vice versa. I usually get the trade buildings maxed out (sometimes going straight through the techs if i have a solid research base) and trade for some other techs so i do not fall too far behind. May not work in a duel though.

It also seems (though it could just be a vocal minority) that most people would like to have it added. That usually is a good enough reason to put something in. That the Epic Generator already has a significant amount of work put into it makes one think that it would be a logical feature to be released, be it patch or the next expansion (if there is one).

Well, Red Alert had a mission where you're base was kept as you left it. Granted you only had pillboxes, but you could set the ground work up for this mission a couple maps later.... One thing that is nice is that in DA, you DON'T start completely from scratch. I am on the one where you and the Iconians are taking on the Korath and DL (if you chose to ally) and I started with a rather large amount of techs. Planetary Invasion, Impulse Drive 2 I think. So they did change that somewha

I have never seen anything too impressive from the Korx that I can remember. They are just....there. And then eventually they aren't. I never have wonderfully huge wars\battles with them, and they are never my steadfast ally. Like one of the other posters, it could just be that my play style is somehow different that the Korx AI plays, so that some things just never happen.

What do you mean? Have things changed that much in DA? The really low PQ planets tend to have three or more tiles for each terraforming tech. Hence that PQ1 planet has a tendency to turn into a PQ 13 fairly easily (especially if you have orbital terraformer). Also, I think that it might be neat if you didn't know what the PQ for planets that you cannot colonize was. On the map it would be a PQ 0 w

I have always been a fan of the Battletech line of books. They are set in the same universe as the Mechwarrior games. Has, in my opinion, a great story line that runs through many authors and lots of books (I especially like the Twilight of the Clans books and the Fed-Com civil war) though it lacks the 'galactic struggle' that you are after. Also, may be hard to decide where to start reading them, as they tend to build off of each other.

Great expansion! You guys really did wonderful work on this. Pass this thread around to everyone that worked on this game. YOU ALL ROCK!

I usually will pick custom race because I like the build that I use for a race, plus then you get to pick any super power.

The Terran trading bonus can be very effectively countered. Build the wonder that protects trade routes so they can't get it, then have a field day with fast small ships attacking their shipping. All of a sudden they have 9 points that are totally useless, bringing them down to 15 points and trashing a large chunk of their economy for little cost to you. I think that this is really a nice way to encourage you to use a stock race. In DL I never used a stock race after my first game.

Grand Forks: Now, -9F. Tomorrow (Tuesday) high of 1F (Yay! back into the positive numbers!!!)

I don't really get it either....Are you saying that that would be a case for carrying over research, ships\units, money etc. from one mission to the next?

That was the 'second' release date. The original was like November or early December. They (and the community) decided on a later date for more content and an open beta. As to your point, that shouldn't be much of a problem. If anything, that will help the load on their servers as some people (me included) are going to be otherwise occupied for most of the day. However, it isn't too difficult to just start the download. It also doesn't mean much if some cannot get it until the next

But their empire is larger than his, so even if he was set RIGHT now to invade, it would still take a decent amount of time to conquer them. Fortunately, I find that the 'military rating' is usually a bad way to gauge strength. I almost never am first (usually more like 4-5th on huge with 8 races) yet when I go to war I have few problems. The biggest one I run into is that I over extend my fleet and cannot cover everything I take (usually works itself out after 3-5 turns when I get a cheap re
