I like the "orb" (He suddenly remembers a Woddy Allen movie) on the wallpaper much better than on the Start Panel. Otherwise the skin looks really nice. Both versions have their stuff points. I might recommend a mutes version like the first screen and a brighter version like the last, maybe as subs of the same skin pack.

I use W7RC x64 as only O/S on both my laptop and desktop now. My laptop only has 3 GB RAM useable because of an older Intel chipset but even with that W7 runs great. I have had no problems with it what so ever except having to disable or uninstall several Stardock programs that aren't Win7 friendly yet. Windowblinds doesn't work well and the latest version will actually tell you and then fail to load. Icon packager does not work well enough to be used. CursorFX works fine. Do not even try Bootskin as it will render the computer unbootable because of the way it changes the actually boot files to insert the graphic. Multiplicity works great for me between Vista and Win7! I've had not problems at all.

Memory mapping is the likely candidate. I've seen this many times when upgrading memory. Might be a BIOS setting to tell the system how much memory the card has, might be telling it where to map the video memory. If it were power, you should be able to set all youtr memory BIOS controls to AUTO. that usually gets rid of any customsettings that might have been a problem. If you are alreadya t AUTO then BIOS wouldn't likely be the problem. But I have seen where more memory can be enough

Profit margins for computer systems are extremely tight. The commodity type pricing of components and the rapid releases of newer better components makes it very difficult to stock efficiently. Google on NVIDIA uninstall utilities. There are sometimes issues with specific versions of the Nvidia drivers not wanting to uninstall correctly. I have also seen where go into Device Manager (right click on My Computer and select Manage) and uninstalling there will work where doing it through Program Features doesn't work correctly. I have a 4850x2 and it rocks. The 4850 chip is the most under estimated video out there. I strongly recommend it. For power 650 is minimum, 750 gives you more room to expand. I'm running a 4850 x2 with Phenom 2 940, 8 GB ddr2-1066 and three 160 GB striped with two DVD burners on a 650 with no power issues at all. But it is a very good 650.
Dr, thanks for the karma and kind words. I did a System Resore to before the install of Impulse and the other progrrmas and sure enouhg the sidebar came back. I then installed Impulse and no problem. Next I installed CursorFX and still the sidebar is all goodness. Then I installed Icon Packager and the sidebar is still there. Fances anyone? I think I'll stay where I am and not install fences. But someone at Stardock who is already or will be starting to do compat testing might
Just stumbled across an interesting issue with Windows 7 and "some" Object Desktop component. Maybe... I'm still working the issue and will report my final root cause analisys, but I beleive that one of the following may be breaking the Sidebar in Win7: CursorFX, Icon Packager or LogonStudio Vista. I've tried several Vista Sidebar apps that were built from DesktopX and all of them error saying that DesktopX is not installed, or installed correctly. I have a feeling there is an issue with them looking for DLLs in Program Fiesl, etc. instead of Program Files (x86). So two questions: 1. Is that the case? B. What files need to be copied manually into what other folder for it to wark? (Assuming there is this work around). TIA
Microsoft does say that Win 7 will upgrade over XP so that is a logn term option to think about at least. Lots of people dual boot and have given you very good outlines of the process, I see. Drive space is very much a concern because Vista is aa huge install. I wouldn't recommend Fat32 regardless of the combination of XP and Vista. NTFS is a much more reliable file system in just about every way.
