Sounds like you have something going on there. CursorFX should be fine without a proble, not downloading at all sure doesn't sound like a compatibility issue, though I don't personally use bootskin. I recomend you uninstall Impluse and reboot. Then reinstall, reboot and try to download again.

Comvoluted fix for no My Colors Update in Impulse. in MyColors WinCustomize Forums

As recported before I was not able to get the new My Colors engine to install through Impulse. Turned on beta/alpha app lists, reset data several times, had WB7 installed, etc. Nothing got rid of the dreaded error about installing on Win7. So I tried something a little off the wall and it worked. I downloaded the stand alone install of Think Green and in installed without a problem. Then when I ran Impulse it finally said there was an update and would I like to install

There is still a sidebar.exe. So strictly speaking you are wrong it is still there. I simply no longer defines an area in which it is running but rather is running over the entire desktop.

Windows 7 and no My Colors update in MyColors Stardock Forums

Is there any information on when the free My Colors engine will be released to Oobject Desktop subsacribers? I have show beta/alpha enabled, I have WB7 installed. I have reset my Impulse data at least five times over the last week. Nothing, zilcho, no My Colors free edition. I would buy one if I knew it would install just to get the new engine.

My Colors Free Version still shows not compatible when I select it. I have Icon 5 and WB 7 install, I obviously have show beta selected, I have beta Impulse selected, I went into reset data to force rebuild of app list so far My Colors Free still shows 2.60 as the newest version available. Same result on two different machines running RC. And after resetting Impulse data three times each with restart of Impulse in between each reset of data.

I think I would rather trust Microsoft with my operating system than google. They will throw some wrapper around something already available and call it their O/S. Neophites and the ingornat members of the press will call it Goggle's O/S and in will really likely be a minimal Linux kernel with some minimal window manager thrown on top. Big whoop.

The onl thing you really need to worry about, as has already been said is your CPU and motherboard. Since you have an E6400 C2D you have quite a bit of room to bump up your speed without buying a new mobo. You could get a lot of boost buy getting an E8xxx Intel and dropping iton the existing. A lot of boost. I'm a bit skeptical of the x3 AMD chips, but I run a PhenomII x4 940 and it absolutely rocks at 3.5 o/c from 3.0. ANd it is rock steady, too. Now that the AM3 chips are out you wo

Almost all desktop computers sold today new are 64-bit compatible. Many come with Vista 64 pre-installed. Any Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad is 64. All Intel i7 chips are also 64-bit. All AMD Phenom chips are as well, and of course all Athlon 64s.

I just bought that motherboard two months ago and it absolutely rocks! I put a Phenom II 940 on it and 8 GB RAM with a Radeon 4850x2. It is a speed demon. I also have 3 160 GB in RAID 0 for programs and 2 500 GB in Raid 0 for data. And I got everything from Newegg. Go for it.

You can't upgrade an existing 32-bit install to 64-bit. You have to do a fresh install to get 64-bit. I would recommend a reformat because not only are there major file differences in the Windows folders, but Program Files is for 64-bit programs and Program Files (x86) is for 32-bit. So these changes will really confuse thing even if you try to leave 32-bit on and install 64-bit into new folders.

I'm still using AVG free for my Win7 machines. Has anyone tried the Norton/Symantec gamer's A/V product? Does it really have a smaller footprint and still work?

Do not try Bootsakin. It does not work for Windows 7 and will render your Win 7 install unbootable. On the other hand, Logon Vista works just fine.
