I'm having a hard time understanding exacly how the combat system works. For example in a skirmish I have two frigates going against a b-ship and 2 frigates of the opponent. My total combat stats are something like 21 missle, 4 point defense (missle def) and 1 laser def (shield), zeros for everything else. His total stats for his fleet is 9 missle offense and 51(!) shield def. Zeros for everything else. It seems to me that I should have the advantage in this battle because my missle off would

Same thing here. Dread Lords do nothing, and I get this wierd number like -2400000 on my side of the odds when trying to invade the planet. The planet is impossible to take! C'mon Brad or somebody at stardock tell us how to fix this. I paid money for this game I'd at least like to be able to complete the campaign. Ridiculous...

I tried that strategy and I ran out of money before I could build enough constructors (the cost of having like 20 constructuctors and fighters was just too much). BTW by 1/1 ships what do you mean exactly? Cargo ships with a laser on it? Boy this one is just impossibly hard everything I try with the tips here still doesn't work for me I still end up getting creamed. :( If you win apoc do the missions get even harder? I can't imagine that.... Talk about no fun.

Never mind I figured it out. Dumb me I let my planet get full of ships thus the message. Sorry about the post, move along...

Don't know if this is a bug or an advanced feature I don't understand but on one of my planets I get a "Starport Full" notice whenever I try to build a ship. A ship is never built and the notice never goes away. If this is not a bug could anyone tell me how to get rid of the notice? thx

Hi, I'm stuck on this mission and I find it impossible even with the tips and on the easiest level! One big problem I'm having is that I can't steal any techs at all from the dread lords I must have recaptured about 50 DL bases now though all of the games on this map and not once have I sucessfully stolen a tech from them when I recaptured one of my bases from them through plantary invasion. What am I doing wrong and why can't I ever steal any tec

I'm kind of confused about something. When I'm building I notice that there are often at least 2 of the same type of buildings available to choose from. For instance Market Center, Adv Market Center and Banking center to choose from for income boosts. Research Academy, Research center and Research Coordination for research boosts. And so on... I'm just kind of confused.... how much of each type of building I should try to build? All the same? A mix? I'm just confused on this.<b

I'm not clear on a few things about invading planets. When invading a planet, if the invasion fails, does the damage of the special attack still count? (50-80% of planet improvements destroyed for example) If not is there a strategy of what special attack to use? Core gives a better attack percentage then Gas I think. Is there an instance where I should use a less powerful one (like Gas) over the other? Thanks for any info...

thx for the tips guys. Also, I might just go back to normal for a while and test out some different strats. For me, I find theres a big jump between normal and challenging difficulty. For me it gets a ton harder on challenging then normal. Too bad there's not a level in between for us peeps like me who struggle like heck on challenging. Anyway, again, thx for the help.

I've come across this bug frequently... There will be a AI survey ship that gets stuck over an anomaly. It never picks it up but it just stays on the same square. The other AI flagships will gather around (but not in) the survey ship that can't pick it up and they all just stay there and never move. Hope this gets fixed...

I can beat the ai on normal but on the next level, challenging I think, - the one where the ind AI is set to bright - I have no luck at all. The main problem is they get way ahead of me in techs. And when I try to trade they offer impossible deals where I have to give away everything for 1 measly tech like laser. Anyway what do you guys so to keep up with the AI in the tech race on the higher levels? I have no luck at all.. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/M

While playing Galciv2 I was just wondering about something... One thing I do often is when a war is going well for me against an ai opponent and he offers a peace treaty is I make him give me all (or as much as he'll give me) of his techs too for the treaty. When I am a bit behind in techs this can be a ton of "free" techs that I get in exchange for a peace treaty. But then a few turns later I just declare war on him again and finish him off. <img src="http://images.stardock.co

Not that I recall, I'll try a few sandbox games and see what happens. I'm pretty sure I had it set to either abundant or normal the last SB game I played. (which was quite a while ago, had my hands full been trying to beat the dread lords campaign lately)

While trying my 1000th try at winning the "apocalypse" campain mission I have come to notice that about 1/2 of the time when I play this mission the map has zero anomalies. No wormholes or space junk at all for my surveyor to collect. The other half of my games on this map there is plenty of "space junk" on the map at the start. Just wondering if this is a bug. Why is it that about 1/2 the time there my map is clear of anomalies at the start of this mission and the other half plenty?<br

I'm probably in the minority but I find the Dread Lord main campaign (I think it's the Dark Avatar campaign, not sure) no fun at all. It's too darn hard and there seems to be no way to turn the difficulty down. For instance I'm on the Apocalypse mission and if I turn down the difficulty all it seems to do is make my AI allies useless, it doesn't seem to affect the dread lords at all. It's probably just my personal preference but I just don't like playing missions where my ships are tota

OK one thing I was doing was I wasn't building any ships in my starport anymore. (What was the point the dread lords would just come back to my planet and blast anything I built) I just waiting for the inevitable. I went back to an autosave and started building again and once I had built a ship the Dread Lords finally started coming after my planet with transports and finally finished me off. I guess the fact that I wasn't building anything on my last planet might have had something to do with t

I was playing the DA campaign mission "Achilles' Heel" and the dread lords were slowly winning. I was finally down to my last planet and then the dread lord sent 1 transport, it failed to conquer. Then another transport. Again it couldn't do it, then nothing more. Just saw tons of DL ships flying around the map and after like 200 turns the game crashed. I was playing at beginner level BTW (still learning the game) Ah well...

I have this very frustrating problem, where out of the blue the game slows to a crawl. Scrolling, watching the ships move during a turn, it is a joke how choppy it gets. I'm almost positive it has noting to do with my computer not being able to run the game smoothly because this choppiness problem seems to hit randomly. The game is running fine then wham the choppiness starts. I might add that a lot of times the choppiness will hit on one area of the map only. And this is with

Hello, I was just curious about what kind of copy protection GalCiv2 will come with. I heard somewhere that it will use a "dial home" system where your personal data will be sent to Star Dock for verification. Don't know if I'm so crazy about that but if it is the type of CP Galciv2 will be using could someone explain to me how exactly it would work? If you uninstall the game would you have to go through the same process again when you install again? In my opinio
