Wow, still updating after all this time! I'm extremely impressed.

Well, a bit late to the party but I want to toss in a plug for City of Heroes. It definitely ain't Everquest/WoW in spandex. The big thing in CoH is creativity. The costume creation has a ton of options. And they aren't stingy about them, either. Each character can get up to five costumes. You only get a few powers spoon fed to you right at the start of the game. Fo
Karma is a word, like love.
I sure hope Windows 7 arrives. It's going to work well with touch-sensitive screens and the next .Net Framework will have a Touch API. I am so looking forward to one of my programs throwing a "bad touch" error! [e digicons]:O[/e] What about OLED TVs? Any chance sanely priced versions could start showing up in 2009?
Quite well deserved, especially if you include the recent patches. (And kudos to IGN for recognizing it - a lot of websites never seemed to notice the game at all. Maybe because the expansion wasn't in brick & mortar stores?)
The in-game advertising in Far Cry 2 is pretty light for the single player game. There are some Jeep Wranglers hanging around. Thing is, you really wouldn't want to drive one. There are tons of trucks around with mounted machine guns, why travel around in an unarmed jeep? NPCs don't seem to drive them, either. From the sound of it, it's the online game that pushes the advertisements to you. Perhaps to help pay for the servers? Far Cry 2 is an excell
Gamers shall have the right to return games that don’t work with their computers for a full refund.
Consoles maybe, but PCs? That's just not going to be fair to publishers. Far too many games don't play right not because of any fault in the game, but because the PC owner isn't maintaining the PC. You can't expect a game to run right on a PC with a big pile of malware and a 90% fragmented hard drive. Plus a lot of games are getting very shor
Dying... yeah, sure. Whatever. First of all, yeah, there's the real-life-stores statistics. They completely ignore online sales and online MMO's. You can't buy Arnor in the stores at all, as far as I know, so according to those statistics this game has sold ZERO copies. Those statistics are really only interesting if you are planning on opening up such a store. Second of all, you don't have to have massive sales to be a success, you just have to make more money than it cost
If you double-click on the base, you can see what is installed. You can't see what is left to be installed, though. BTW, you can right click on techs in the diplomacy screen, too.
Box? I couldn't care less about a box. The manual - that's another story. Not a printed manual, just a manual. Heck, even some release notes would be a huge help. In fact, the info page on the ToA (at https://forums.galciv2.com/310173) is almost enough and was a huge help to me once I found it. (And yes, I actually opened up and started to read the TwilightManual.pdf *before* I started the game. And I'm not alone! There are at least 7 other people on the planet like me! 10 if yo
Brad is planning to update the manual for TA soon.
Good to hear but, ummm, two weeks post release and there's still no manual? Worse, the manual that is there has TotA on the front page but nothing new inside. Couldn't you have at least put a big "NOT READY YET" in there so I didn't find myself wondering what I had downloaded? Talk about a bad "out of box" experience. I'm very aware that games just released will often have known-but-not-yet-squashed bugs. Releasin
1. No motherboard commonly available is going to give you anywhere near 128 gig. Eight maybe. 2. I'm not so sure there are all that many 64-bit XP drivers out there for video and sound and whatnot. You would probably be better off getting Vista 64. 3. Windows XP (or Vista 32) can actually go up to 4 gig. HOWEVER, your video memory (and some other stuff) are mapped to the high memory addresses and work down. When you have only 2 gig, that doesn't matter. When you've got
Way way past time for a follow-up to Sacrifice ! I do so miss leading a gaggle of... things over a ridge and casting REALLY powerful spells. Adding Stardock's AI skills and strategy mindset to a concept like Sacrifice would be incredible!
As everyone has said, if someone wants something bad enough, they will find a way to get it. Yow! Now wait a sec, if that were true then you might as well leave your car unlocked with the keys in the ignition. It's more convenient for you and, by that logic, if anyone wants to steal your car they will do so whether you lock the car or not. Piracy prevention schemes WILL stop some users from stealing the game and some of those WILL go out and buy it
Copyprotection can also cause problems for, say, an upgrade to a 64bit machine. With a StarForce-d game (say, SplinterCell Chaos Theory) I'd be screwed because the copyprotection crap doesn't do 64bit - even if the app that's wrapped in it would! Exactly why I'm not playing Gothic 3 right now. I got a new PC with 64-bit Vista and now my game has turned into a coaster because they've got some insane copy protection.
Wow, that was... painful.
Some would definitely consider it an act of aggression - heck, we see that right now. Especially when those in power see their people starting to like the foreign ways better than the traditional ways. They are often part of those traditional ways and they will act to keep them in place. They aren't going to say flat out that they are breaking off relations because their people are starting to like another nation better, of course. They will talk about "poisoning the minds of our youth" or s
NNNnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!! I was really looking forward to this feature, I hope it gets into a patch soon. There's a directory called "Story Logs" under GC2DarkAvatar in My Games so I'm guessing the development was very far along indeed.
What's with the race badge? Is it displaying the race you most recently played? The one you most commonly play? Is racial victory winning at least once with each race?
Somebody go push that onto the Wiki site! Aythanaeus, you'll probably have to sing that bit yourself and put it up as a mod.
That's about what I was thinking, Aaron, only I would delay it for several turns. If you run into another race on the planet, for instance, and leave them alone then there's a very small chance per turn that they will hand over a new technology to you, or perhaps decide to join you increasing the PQ, population, and maybe give a free entertainment center and farm. The chance would be very small so maybe only one in five planets would do this over the
Hmmm, I would also like to be able to fiddle with each planet's spending on an individual basis. We can do that a bit by putting priority on one form of spending but that leads to waste. It would be more work but I don't mind the micromanagement so much. Just one problem..... The AI would be *far* better at it than me! I don't mind popping in to planets every now and again to tweak the spending but the computer AI would check every single planet e
so i'm thinking has galciv fried my graphics card? Now i've shut down my computer to let it cool a little bit, will clean it out a bit tomorrow and check if there is any damage Sorry, but I think you're doomed. I had this happen with City of Heroes a few months ago and another graphics card several years back. It doesn't get better, it gets worse. When you buy a new graphics card, make sure your power supply can handle it. By the way, I wouldn't blame
Finally got the little so & so! I set up some more trade routes which did nothing. I got another one of his planets via influence which did nothing. I restored a couple of trade routes lost because of that. Then I gave him over 5k bc and way over half a million influence and the Alliance option turned on.
I've got a + for being the same ethics. Also I have one for having a strong miliatry (though I also get a minus for being militaristic) and two for trade. I've got one for being a long time friend, too. I think there's another, perhaps for strong economy? I sometimes have a minus for close borders, sometimes not. The Drengen have surrendered to me - I've even got a trade route from one of their planets to the furthest Torian planet. One Torian planet has come over to me via influ
