Hi! Well, there are only a couple of things I can think off, that would "infect" the output you're seeing: 1) if it is the only planet you have, then maybe the "flasks" from research treaties are added to planetary output. You can check that by canceling treaties and checking the result. 2) Maybe the hidden research bonus, that players got with higher difficilty levels, is finally shown. IIRC from an old post about two years ago by Mu

Hi! The calculation should be simple: base production * buildings-on-planets bonuses * "outside" bonuses. The main problem is: the numbers you've presented just don't multiply up: 158 base output * 2.50 (tech cap + omega) * 1,91 (overall bonus) = 754 Are you sure you dont have on the planet also the Research Coordination Center, and/or two or more econ starbases with production support modules near, or a really big research bonus from colonization e
Hi!
AFAIK the best score submitted to the MV was under the "Good Alignement". http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=17099
If you've noticed, the game version was TotA. In that version the Mind Control Center was fixed - now it doesn't give 100% bonus to econ like it did in DA. Wi
Hi!
I think two changes would completely solve the problems:
... and you'll be able to win ANY game on ANY settings, because the AI would be totaly lost. Don't you think, that the 3+ years since the "problem" was reported, mean that there's no easy solution? BR, Iztok P.S. All big problems have simple, easy implementable, understandable to everyone solutions, that of course don't work. &
Hi!
my homeplanet and two others in entirely different areas are at 40% or less approval
Too much population, too low morale ability. Destroy (some) farms on low-approval planets. For better explanation check wiki on Approval . To manage approval there's a rule of thumb, that works in all GC-2 expansions: NO farms on HW and planets class 10 and lower, one farm on planets cl
Hi!
I got my free WIndows 7 upgrade. Now I'm afraid to install it.
Don't repair if it isn't broken. ;) BR, Iztok
Hi!
how the game behaves when you have 1/99/0 slider-settings and NO social queue ... 23 /11/0
Quite easily you've found a display glitch, that wasn't reported yet, or I missed it in the time, when I've been absent from forums. Such glitches aren't really rare things, but they also don't effect the game mechanic (your soc queue is empty anyway), what you could easily prove by putting sth. in the soc queue,
Hi!
although the wiki doesn´t say specifically "all" Soc-->Mil.
From wiki: "When a player sets a focus on social or military production, that field takes 1/4 of base research and 1/2 from base production of the other production field" Please note the words BASE PRODUCTION: factory base production * sum of building bonuses + asteroid mines + focus. That's what is transferred from social to mil queue, or used when setting the focus. </
Hi!
Are the Social pts entirely converted into Military pts once the Soc queue is emtpy?
You better check what wiki has to say about social production . BR, Iztok
Hi!
> Question: Does one have to pay for these unused Social points? In a word, yes. As you know, so does overspent military
I'm affraid here you're wrong. Player doesn't pay for unused social points. Those are diverted in mil production, and if he doesn't have ships in production, are returned to treasury. Player even doesn't pay for overspent social production. Even if it looks like he does at the end of the turn, are excess funds returned to treasury,
Hi!
(all_factories) The big downside is the rate of research.
Yes, that's true, but it isn't so black as it sounds. Research "points" can be obtained with research treaties, techs can be traded for or be obtained with invasions, and research "production" can be improved by building econ starbases and by mining research resources. And for 3 of those 5 options the all-fac's has plenty of output to spend on warships, troop trans
Hi!
why putting racial bonuses in Tech when slider setting is 1/99/0?
In DA focus doesn't transfer bonus production. AFAIK it's the same in TotA, just that there you get only 20% points converted into the other type of production. So if you have 200 points of total social production with 100% social bonus, is the amount of research you get with focus in TotA only 20 points (20% of base production), but then that research is multiplied by researc
Hi!
So what is a Frigate
In naval terms a frigate is "small" lightly armed and armored ship (~80 meters lengt, ~50 crew) for patroll and escort duty on open sea. In GC-1 the frigate was quite a good ship for its timeframe ("a battleship of the poor" was its description, if my memory serves me well). AFAIK there's no frigate in GC-2. There are only hull classes with various amount of space and hitpoints. With the equipment
Hi! I have only DA, but most of game mechanic didn't change for TotA, so I can give you some advice.
Imense size ...
You're in an extremely long game with those settings. Are you ready to send at your anemies 1000+ transports and repeat planetary invasion 700+ times?
Costum: Superbreader. Economic 30. Morale 20. Soldiering 30. Luck. Creativity. Universalists
With all-factories you'll want research bonuses - as muc
Hi!
The scout ship has an engine, 2 x suport, and a single sensor module, all on a tiny hull.
Umm, if memory serves me well, a player always starts with the exploraton vessel, that's based on medium hull. Until he researches medium hulls he can't build another copy. BTW built-in warships are remainder from GC-1 and are crap. BR, Iztok
Hi!
Somehow, the wiki has very few updates for TA
One of the reasons for that is I haven't bought TA (yet). I avoid posting to wiki facts I can't check with the game. BR, Iztok
Hi!
+14% starship bonus
That's the bonus to weapons' attack (not to defenses, valid for DL and DA, should be valid for TA), but just for ships built on that planet. DA handles that bonus as a supershot. Wiki - DA ship combat : "attack bonuses from weapons are handled as a supershot . They are all added to the first shot from the first weapon on a ship. This
Hi!
should I try and copy the drengin
Shameless plug: With good weapons you can get everything (Drengin's motto) ;) The aggresive path is one of the strongest way to play this game. You just need to pay attention to not overbuild your navy and sink your econ with its maintenance costs. BR, Iztok
Hi!
Good seems to be a complete waste to me.
If you're playing for metaverse points, that's true. But if you're playing for fun, then not trying the good path will make you miss one interesting aspect of the game. BR, Iztok
Hi! There is more that just one "original" game GalCiv. ;) The true original was written for OS/2. IMO you're asking for the windows GalCiv and its expansion. For that version I'd say it is worth 99 cents. If nothig more, then just to see how much the game design and AI has evolved. Game is still playable (heck, I finished one about a year ago on my very old portable), but I wouldn't return to it - the AIs play too much by their own rules. BR,
Hi!
Can I research beam, missile & mass driver simultaneously
No. Only one branch at the time. If you have enough "flasks" (tech points output), you can also research the next item(s) in that branch. IMO you realy should finish one or two beginner games, just to learn the game mechanics. And check the wiki, when you're in doubt. BR, Iztok
Hi!
I know it can research multiple areas
Nope. You can research more than one item in the same turn only in the same tech branch , given you have big enough tech output. Being new here you may find <a href="https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Galactic_Civilizations_Wiki" target="_bl
H!
parked fleets on my starbases, but that didn't work.
If stacked, the most dangerous ship in the stack usually fights first. So don't arm your SB and it will be attacked the last in the stack.
Should I make a few small fleets with large sensors and park them futher away from my planets in order to see enemy ships sooner?
I'm affraid that's the only option. Or build the "Eyes of the universe" "wonder" at the end of the sensors tech branch and
