To uninstall or not to uninstall...that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the sl...errr, sorry. But seriously, I'm just wondering -- would it be best to uninstall GalCiv2 beta to prepare for online delivery of the full game or will they be two totally separate files systems? I know there have been issues of "upgrading" from one beta version to another, and I want to be sure I start with a clean slate if that is go

This isn't huge, and is purely a convenience UI thingy but I thought I'd bring it up in case no one else has. On the planet management screen, you can't delete stuff by clicking on the icon in the planet map. That is incredibly tedious, as it's much harder to find it in the build queue and delete it there. Just a suggestion...

Let me start this post by saying that this is NOT a "whine thread" about GalCiv2's lack of multiplayer. Until last night, I was never sure if a 4X TBS could have decent multiplayer. Civ4, however, if nothing else, is a "proof of concept" for the multiplayer 4X TBS. I played for a number of hours with a friend last night without any hiccups and we were able to easily and simply save and restart the game (we tested this before quitting for the night).

Just started up my first Beta 4D game. Noticed a few bugs: 1. The game wouldn't allow me to save a customized version of the humans (I had fiddled with abilities, name, and colors). Save and Load are greyed out and when I hit Next, it calls me the Terran Alliance with standard human coloring. 2. The starting techs look mostly fixed (for the humans, at least), but make sure the races are all given the same number of picks. It

Ooh yea. THough I must admit that SEIV gave me a headache. Could never quite get into it. However, part of that was the painfully slow combat of SEIV and SEV supposedly has real-time combat, hopefully allievating that little problem. But yea, we space-based TBS gamers have it good right now! (I guess God is making up for MOO3, eh?) I think all of these games should be released via Stardock Central. Screw the big publishers. The space-based TBS makers ought to stick together, I

I have another list for you guys. Let me just say that I'm loving GalCiv 2. If I appear to be overly critical, it's only because I was one of the bigger supporters and beta testers of MOO3 and we all know what happened there. I loved GalCiv and I know I'll love GalCiv 2. Just gotta help work out the bugs! Without further ado, I give you my list o' bugs-- 1. This is related: the borders and ownership for the main player (at lea

So, I have a question and then a suggestion -- I haven't played far enough into a game to see if you get pre-made designs for the "standard" classes of ship. I know you get a Defender, but that's as far as I've gotten. If you don't get a standard Cruiser, Battleship, etc., I think there should be pre-made designs for those. Here's the reason-- I still don't really like the way ship design works. The gimmick of bein

Another "not sure if this is a bug" bug -- When I start a new game as the humans, I have access to several techs but not the techs EARLIER in the tech tree. This leads to strange situations, like starting the game without Hyperdrive and being unable to build the standard design Colony Ship and Scout until I actually research Hyperdrive, even though I have Ion Drive (or whatever it is the humans start with).

I don't know if this is a bug or not, and maybe it's just my expectations from GalCiv 1, but the largest galaxy available in the beta doesn't seem that large to me. I don't think it IS a bug, and in fact, maybe the largest galaxies aren't programmed in, but there don't seem to be that many stars compared to GalCiv 1 Huge galaxies. How many stars *should* we be seeing in Huge galaxies? If this is the maximum, then I think it's too small f

I'm just curious -- the UI can still be hard to actually *see.* Especially on planet screens, the green doesn't show up very well. Is this a problem with my install or my monitor? I'm running on a Dell Latitude D800 with a GeForce 4 Go TI4200 w/ 64 MB VRAM.

I gotta say that I'm still not a big fan of ship design in GalCiv2. And this is after designing tons of ships in other games...personally, I still think the "design by plopping bits onto the frame" idea is not a great one. It's not terrible or even bad, it's just not great. I can live with it though, especially with the option of just double clicking on the part to have it automatically added. The "extras" thing still doesn't do much for me, but that just might be a personal preference. I d

Sorry to jack the GalCiv 2 threads to talk about MOO3, but let's face it, it's not exactly competition these days is it? I was wondering if you have a list of fan mods that make MOO3 into that 7/10 game that you mentioned. I was heavily involved with MOO3, and perhaps one of the most sorely disappointed when it eventually came out (well, I had the betas, all the way from the "alphas", and I knew it was going to be rough going, but I still had hope). Anyw

Ahhhhhh, that makes a lot more sense. See, I thought the current ship style WAS the human style. It's totally alright for bizarre alien creatures to have weirdo ship designs, but they look really weird for humans. I am satisfied.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say something about the ship design because if I don't, I'll regret it. Frankly, and this MIGHT have to do with the textures being out, but I tend to doubt it, I think the ships have WAAAY too much "stuff" on them. Also, and another poster recently said this, I don't think the "extras" are as cool as an idea as everyone may have first thought. By and large, the extras are HUGE, bigger than most of the actual components. If
