Hi all, I thought this would be a good thread for people to list their top three things they would like to see updated in the game. Please don't say things like "Multiplayer" or "Tactical Combat". Love or hate these things, everyone can agree that they are not things that would be bestowed by an update, but would require a full blown expansion. Let me get the ball rolling: 1) AI not doing things with sold ships. Its kind of strange to see these vast parking l

I like the way it is ... if you condense the techs then you are not as willing to sell, or give them away to the AI, and this is one of the best ways to get an AI to dance to your tune. In CIV 4 I hardly every chatted with the AIs in diplomacy, cause there was just too little Tech and its effects too momentous to use as a carrot. Dano
In the new patch being planned they are planning to allow trade goods be available to those that capture the planet. This is very good. My question is, will this Trade good be TOTALLY the Captors? I.e. the loser no longer has the trade good to offer in diplomacy, but the captor does? I think this should be the way it works ... after all its costing the Captor a potential planet tile. As for super projects ... will they stack? If I have a super project that raises my economy 50%,
Say Stardock, If we were to add new techs (I assume its in a txt or xml file), would the techs automatically show up in the tech tree? If we (for some reason) made a gigagun that did 3000 points of damage - and was only a level 2 tech, would the AIs be smart enough to go 'Holy Crap' and all pursue that insanely powerful tech? Dano
Not actually sure if this is an exploit or not, since it seems like perfectly fair gameplay - but I think the AI is quite susceptible to it. 1) Locate resources that someone is mining that you don't want to risk war with. 2) Find or encourage someone else to go to war with that race 3) Build a constructor and a few warships 4) Move the constructor and warships beside the resource 5) Sell the other race the warships 6) They will destory the mining base,
Hi there, I noticed that when I finish a 3-4 hour session of Gal Civ 2, that when I exit the game windows is complaining of low virtual memory. I currently have half a gig of ram and a 128 meg ATI video card. Not sure if this is a bug, or my system just sucks. Anyone else notice this? Dano
I haven't tried the campaign yet. I am wondering, do you set the difficulty once for the entire campaign, or do you set it for each mission? Dano
I love the fleet battles, but they seem to start a little close don't they? Its like the Bismark and the Hood duking it out with a 25 meters between them. The only reason I bring it up is becuase the ships stop on a dime and rotate to avoid the inevitable collision. It sort of breaks the suspension of disbelief to see capital ships do this. My gut tells me that this is not a trivial enhancement, just thought I would bring it up. Anyone agree? Disagree? Dano
How do you destroy buildings like Manufacturing Capital? When I select it, all the options to destroy it are gone. The same is true of trade good buildings. This is particularly troublesome on captured planets, especially since it seems like you don't get the trade good anyway. So its a double whammy -> you don't get the trade good and you can't use the space. Hopefully I am mistaken about this Dano
Hi all! Just a few questions - If you capture a planet with a manufacturing capital, and you already have one, does the captured manufacturing capital still keep its bonus? When you capture trade good structures, do you get the trade goods? I captured Aphrodisiac, but was unable to select it in the diplomacy screen Also - on a related note, do the Resupply structures extend ALL of your fleets range, only those built on that planet, or all ships but ju
As anyone who knows anything about Quantum Mechanics, quantum entities once together can have an influence on one another over a great distance. The same seems to be true of ships in this marvellous game. I have noticed this behaviour: Ships are part of a fleet (or sometimes just stacked together) Separate one of the ships to go somewhere Separate the others to go somewhere else Click on the first one and with the rest of his movement points click on the map to make t
Hi there, Let me explain. In the beginning you get simple factories, labs etc. If you happen to capture a planet in the later game that has few/no factories then all that are available are the uber-structures, which take about 300 turns to build. So such planets are essentially useless ... It would be great if there was an Obsolete section in the structures list that you can expand and then build smaller factories etc in order to get enough production to tackle the big b
I think the devs will be pleased with this ... http://www.nlgaming.com/pc/nl/asp/id_1374/pc/nl/reviewDisp.htm
Hey there! I don't know anything about 3d graphics, but is it possible to have a free range camera in the fleet battle viewer? The way the camera button follows ships and the way they zing around its hard to get an overall sense of the battle. I know the overhead cam would provide that, but that just isn't cinematic enough for me. I crave the ability to drop a camera, zoom in and out and watch a battle several times from different viewpoints. Not sure if this a
Everyone is entitled to their opinion ... just like I am entitled to mine. But I can't understand the complaint concerning the Tech tree being TOO big, or there being TOO much stuff to put on your ship. The best games allow a billion choices for you to make - the worst only a few. Perhaps it can be overwhelming to be presented with all these choices on your first game, but I don't know how one could avoid this overwhelming without stifling those very choices that make this game brilliant (IMH
I thought the music in GalCiv 1 was sort of mediocre and repetitive, but am finding this music very inspiring. Actually it reminds me in its style a little bit like Lord of the Rings, and that is a HIGH compliment indeed. Whoever composed the music - Kudos! Dano

Hi there Just glancing at the forums, and it looks like a lot of people are having some major problems, but I imagine a lot more are not (just based on my experiences and Stardock's reputation). As a developer myself I get someone despondant when all I see are bug reports, even if statistically speaking it may be 1 in 100 people having a severe bug. Anyway, just to add some balance to the initial perception of someone visiting the forum for the first time, feel f
Does anyone know how we can burn GalCiv 2 to cd once it has been downloaded? I like to have a hard copy of my fave games rather than relying on the volatility of a current install ... and yes I know we can download again from Stardock. Is it just a matter of burning the directory structure onto a CD? Dano
Hey guys! Since Gal Civ 2 will already be out before E3, are you going to be there? If so, whatcha going to show? Huh? Huh? Huh? *Tries to look over Brad's shoulder* Dano
In the Sandbox mode will the races have certain pre-dispositions to other races (The Torians versus The Dregin since the latter enslaved them), or will they have a 'clean slate'. I can see benefits for both. Maybe this would be good as a game setting? Dano
Man, that download was absolutely painless. Any way ... is there any way we can look at the tutorials while we wait for the 21st? Dano
I am sure this is a supremely stupid question, but how exactly do I uninstall the Beta? I checked the Add/Remove programs in the control panel and didn't see it listed there. For that matter, how do you uninstall Gal Civ 1? I uninstalled the Altarian Prophecy the other day (that showed up in Add/Remove Programs) but I didn't see Gal Civ 1. The download for Gal Civ 2 seems to have worked, but because I couldn't uninstall the Beta could that cause problems?
I think its safe to assume based on the Previews, the Beta and Stardocks reputation that GalCiv 2 will be well received and make the company very rich ... Just wondering if it is too early for any of the Devs to tell us what ideas they are kicking around for the expansion? Dano
Yes the screenshots are cool, and the beta was neat - but these aren't what have me stoked for this game ... Its your obvious excitement and sincere pride! Can't wait! Dano
