I'm with you Brad! People Suck! That's why I play computer games ... Actually if GalCiv had play by email, I would be all for that. I have no idea how this could be effectively implemented, especially in the early game. Maybe email games would have all players start with 5 planets and a bunch of ships or something. That's t

Its cool that you know who paid off your enemy to war with you. Is this automatic or is it an espionage thing? If you pay off X to fight Y do your relations with Y suffer? Dano
Personally I wouldn't even try to ship an expansion before Xmas. With 1.1 and 1.2 going full steam you guys must be close to collapse. I would vote for Feb 2007 with an open beta before. What's the hurry? We will still be here ... Besides ... with the popularity of GalCiv 2 I think you will find Beta Pre-orders for the Expansion to be about a BILLION percent greater than GalCiv 2. Just my two BC. Dano
Mmmmmmm ... I love the idea of AIs going to war because they recognize your philosophy of Manifest Destiny. Q - Will such attacks only come from Military Campaigns, or Influence ones as well? Q - Is it a sudden attack (i.e. We were soulmates and suddenly 'Britain' declares war on me the next turn), or is it a sudden degradation of relations. If the latter it could be easy to buy peace from them, or the degradation may simply make
Good God! You guys need a vacation! Dano
Any other comments? Dano
Yes ... definitely something like IG2. I never played it, but the spy system sounds very flavourful! Anything but the dreaded slider battle! LOL Dano

Hi Brad, First let me congratulate you on the success of GalCiv 2. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving company. Your views on customer support and copy protections have made more than a few of us, rabid fans. Anyway, I had some thoughts you might be interested in regarding the upcoming expansion. You have mentioned that in it, espionage would be getting some much needed loving. I was trying to think of a way that this co
Just curious ... if so you got my money. Okay ... who am I kidding, you have my money regardless .... Dano
I have noticed (and I have only been playing the game one level below intelligent), that once you have become a superpower the game is pretty much over, even if you have 75% of the map to conquer. It seems that the AI is only too happy to be your best bud, even when your influence is drowning them and you are gobbling up other races. This MAY keep them out of hot water for a little while, but an alternate strategy would be to quickly downgr
Cheers - Thanks for your help Dano
Ah ... I see. I understand. Here is a question though - will Stardock Central still work if a meteor takes out the company of Stardock? Dano
Hmmmmm ... I did a download overnight so I don't have the conditions to repeat it. I believe I double clicked on one of the SDC files (the main program file) when I transfered them to my new computer. The message box that came up said something along the lines of "Gal Civ 2 is not installed, it must be installed first" or something like that. I just wanted a complete archive copy in the unlikely event that Stardock is eaten by the EA colle
Hey All, So I got a brand new spanking computer! Wohoo! Anyway I thought I would transfer this wonderful game to that computer. So I went onto Stardock and selected 'Archive Files'. It made 4 .sdc files which I assume are some sort of zipped file. Then I transferred these 4 files to my new rig after downloading stardock again. Anway, it seems that you already have to HAVE GalCiv 2 installed in order to restore the archive, which seems
Hmmmmm .... interesting variety of opinions. I thought AOW:SM was an outstanding game while MOM had mediocre AI at best. Dano
I think the MAIN problem here is that there is a diverse set of people in this thread, and the thread has an inflammatory title. If the thread said "AI can be improved", I think everyone could agree with that. But the title of the thread makes it sound like the AI is nothing special - the same old, same old that you get in any computer game that you buy these days - which I think most people, myself included would disagree with very strongly. <b
As for comparing it to the AI of Rome Total War, does that mean that all a developer has to do is create an AI better than the POS AI in RTW and we should all clap our hands. We should never use that AI as a yard stick of succses. Well True enough. I guess it just irks me that, that game got 90+ per
Maybe I am just dumb, but I think GalCiv2 has the best AI of any game I have seen (well, maybe not Massive Assault, but that was just basically Chess so you can hardly compare the two). You want to see shoddy AI that basically just blinks at you - Play Rome Total War. If GalCiv2 has such crappy AI, then PLEASE - enlighten us - WHAT similar 4x games have BETTER AI? Its the nature of the beast that AI is going to have some bumps on it, that is what the 'A' in 'AI' is for I
Will you also give us the option to disable the colour coded influence overlay on the mini map until we meet the randomly generated opponents. There's not much point in not knowing who you're fighting if you know who you're fighting on turn 1. Kind of ruins the surprise. Good Point. Prob
Brad Said: That's coming. Just not in 1.1 . WOHOOOOOO! God Love Ya Stardock! The Races of MOO2 shall breathe and fight again!!!!!! Now I just have to figure out what MOO2 races will be Good/Evil and Neutral! Dano
Giggady Giggady! Everyday is like Christmas with this game! I love the randomized intelligence level. Probably won't use the randomized opponents since I like everyone on. Now if the game could select from a POOL of Stock and custom created races, THAT would be nirvana. You would have to set the AI and everything for custom non-players. Shouldn't be so horrible to implement I imagine as except for the abilities that you select
Hi all, I believe there is a bug in the Mind Control Wonder that is available to Evil races. Here is my empirical evidence: I have had planets flip to my side in previous games, but in this game I built a Mind Control wonder for the very first time. It states that planets that are endanger of flipping to you, do so nearly instantaneously (or words to that effect). Anyway, later in the game my culture spread out and nearly completely engulfed the Altarian emprie
I would love to hear counterarguments on how holding a fully developed military resource is not a guaranteed win. Especially from a developer. I still like military resources, but maybe it could be expressed in a way that doesn't seem so overpowering, like increasing logistic ability or maybe reducing military costs, or increasing military production or something like that. Of course its likely that any such changes would need the AI to be adjusted which is never an easy t
